I am so sad to read your post today, Sherry, and will keep you and Odie and Buddie and all your family in my thoughts and prayers. You sure did take good care of him. There just aren't any words to help when we lose a beloved family pet.

Aw Sherry, I'm so sorry about Odie. We love our furry family members so much, and it is so very hard to lose them. You are the bestest dog mommy in the world - look at what excellent care you took of Odie in his final days.
You'll be in my thoughts and prayers, and I sure hope Buddie does ok without Odie by his side.
*hugs*

I'm so very sorry, Sherry Lynn. We had to put our 17 year old Lucas to sleep last Friday, so I'm a week ahead of you in the grieving process. His sidekick Chihuahua is having a really hard time adjusting, and so are we. He was my 24 hour shadow since 1995. This last year, he had good days and bad days, and I just couldn't see putting him down on those good days. Last week, the bad days were everyday, though. I think it must have been the same for you and Odie. The only real comfort is to know that they aren't suffering anymore and that they knew they were loved.

It's exhausting taking care of a sick loved one, pet or person. Please take care of yourself, breathe deeply, and give extra special attention to Buddie. Hugs!

Keeping you, Buddy and your family in my prayers.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
