Is there a maximum number of layer styles you can add to Photoshop Elements 8 at one time? Or can I just load them all in?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I think it's more a function of your computer's memory than anything else. I'm not aware of a limit.

some users report that loading lots of them will slow the program down (what Barbara said).

There is no limit, but it will take an awful long time to load them when you open PSE. What I usually do is just keep the PSE styles open and then if I need SG Styles, I'll open them when I need them. By open I mean clicking on the 'show all' button.
Hope that helps.

I plan on writing the metadata info for the layer styles missing it so I don't have to "show all" to find them, they would be in the drop down menu, but if it's going to really slow the program down I may only do the SG ones and the ones I really like and just upload and delete others as I need/want them

Kim, if you are using a PC and use Add-O-Matic to install your styles, you can add several styles at a time, and it will automatically add the metadata info, and you won't have to use "show all". After adding the styles, you would need to delete the MediaDatabase.db3 (specific instructions can be found on pages 178 and 179 in the handbook: Scrap Girls ScrapSimple Instructions Handbook (Free ScrapSimple basics eBook)), then restart PSE to rebuild the database. Rebuilding the database does take a little time (mine usually takes about 20 minutes), then restart PSE. I use PSE 9 and all of my styles show up in the drop down menu and nothing is slowed down. I think the current price for AOM is $19.99, but I think it's well worth the cost. HTH

Thank you ladies, so much, for this information! I had a wild hair up my @ss this weekend to install Windows 7 on my laptop. I am having the same issues installing my styles ... actions and brushes were a breeze, but these dang STYLES.. I can't do without my STYLES! I'll purchase Add-O-Matic today... thanks for that piece of info. Didn't know there was such a thing had I not read it here! You gals are the best!

Okay... now I have a question. I purchased AOM. Do I still have to delete the metadatabase file and open PSE to rebuild it or will AOM do that for me?
