A couple of weeks ago my very dear friend called me to tell me that her mammogram showed that she had a mass in her breast and that she was having the mass removed very soon. She did and the surgeon said he thought he had gotten it all and that all she would need was radiation. Last Saturday Bobbie called to tell me that the oncologist found that the cancer had indeed spread and Bobbie will now need chemo as well.

Bobbie has been a very good friend of mine for many years - she was one of Rich's trainees in the police department and she and I became very close over the years. She worked for several years on patrol and then moved to the detective division in our department. Just recently, in the last few months, she was selected for a Chief of Police job in a small community here and also had just gotten engaged to be married.

Bobbie has long beautiful chestnut hair - is the happiest person I know and I love her dearly. She has had alot of health issues in her young age and has managed to get past all of them because of her amazing attitude. She has moved her wedding up so that she can get married before she starts these treatments and she has a wonderful support system with family and her law enforcement friends, but I'd like to ask for Scrap Girl Prayers for her please.

She starts her chemo on the 26th of this month and already has her wigs ready to go - she has several - they are Rapunzel, a Mohawk, and a Goldilocks wig so far! (That's just to show you what a wonderful sense of humor she has!) The oncologist told her that with the chemo she would be taking that she would begin to lose her hair in the second week of chemo.

Please may I ask for your prayers for my friend, Bobbie - that she will beat this cancer like she has beaten every other obstacle that has come her way!

Thank you!

This is such sad news. Chemo is just as hard for the friends and family to go through I think. I will be keeping her in my thoughts and prayers.

Sara, your friend Bobbie sounds like a wonderful, vibrant person. Her personality will go a long way in helping her overcome her health issues. I am adding my prayers for her and for her doctors that they will have the wisdom to make the right decisions in her treatment.

Thank you, Bitzee - Bobbie IS wonderful and vibrant! I think her attitude is what's keeping me going strong here! I feel as if she's supporting me some days! With God's help and her attitude, I just know everything is going to be ok!

Bobbie had her first chemo treatment yesterday. I was beside myself all day worrying but she was in her usual good humor! I wish you all knew her - she's a little ray of sunshine and it seems she is the one keeping everyone's spirits lifted. I just know her attitude is going to get her through all of this. Her next treatment is June 13.

Bobbie is experiencing so many side effect of her chemo treatments. Her hair is beginning to come out and the steriods are causing her to gain weight - her mouth is sore and she's feeling really achy all over. But through it all she's trying to go to work for a little while every day - work is a blessing because since she was only hired as the Chief a couple months ago she feels as if she has to make an appearance. It's tough, but Bobbie is tougher!

Her next chemo treatment is June 13th.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. Bobbie has her second chemo treatment today and even though she's having some terrible side effects from the last one, her spirits are good. She's having a lot of trouble finding foods that taste good to her and losing that beautiful chestnut hair has begun.

I made a big pot of homemade chicken soup and froze batches of it in portion sized containers so she could keep it in her freeze for the days when she is hungry - and today I'm taking over a variety of popsicles - Jode gave me some great advice on things that might taste good to her when she gets that metallic taste in her mouth.

I think every bone and every muscle in her body is hurting - she says it's like a full body ache and so far she hasn't taken anything for the pain. She's such a little trooper! She does get upset from time to time - has lots of blue moments when Mike is at work but she always bounces back. And during her chemo treatments, it's Bobbie who keeps the other patients having chemo in hysterics!

Keep praying - Somehow God listens to Scrap Girl prayers - I just know that with prayer and Bobbie's attitude that she is going to beat this!

And please, please, everyone have your mammogram!
