I just thought it might be good to put a little reminder out there to schedule (and attend) your annual mammogram. I just went today and it really wasn't that bad. It was only my second time and for some reason I work myself up about it and then it's not as bad as I fretted about. Getting your mammogram done yearly is such an important thing to do to help protect your health! If you haven't had your annual appointment please call and schedule it today (or tomorrow if it's after hours).

(((((HUGS!)))))

Thanks for the reminder... they are not as bad you think they are going to be. But I think the worry is that they may find something.

Ah, and that is just what you should be hoping for...if there's something to find, they will find it. Go get it done, my friends.

Thanks, Wendee! I just had mine and got the all clear this year! It's not at all bad and everyone needs to keep this at the top of their list. I found out just this year that my mother, who was adopted, had ten siblings - over half of them were females and they all died from breast cancer as did my Mom. I had known of course that my Mom had breast cancer but knew nothing of her siblings because she never told us about them. And I have a friend who just found out that she has breast cancer and is undergoing treatment for it now, so please, please everyone - do schedule a mammogram and keep that appointment!

Went last October. Not fun, but not that bad. And they gave me a pink pen that serves as a reminder to go this year when it's time.

Great reminder Wendee! I had my first one last fall. I always planned to have one done, but just never did. SO, from now on, I'm going yearly.

Just had mine last month. The new digital imaging machine our lab acquired three years ago is quicker, so despite the "We compress because we care" sign, it wasn't bad. And then they can show you the images immediately, even before the radiologist sees them. Best to put your worries to rest, or to get on with doing something about the concerns!

I had my first one in October because my dr. found a lump. Turned out to be nothing, thank goodness! I don't have to go back until next year after I turn 40!

I get mine yearly, in February. I lost my sister to breast cancer so it's something I'm religious about doing.

My last one was the most uncomfortable one I've ever had. I chalk that up to the technician. It won't stop me from getting it done.

we are lucky down here that after 40 they are free so it is easy enough for any woman over 40 to get one... it's just plucking up the nerve.

I have had two, my last one was about 2 months ago, took me a while to get up the courage and afterwards, I wondered what I was so scared about, yes, it is uncomfortable, but I will take that discomfort any time if they letter I got two weeks later telling me I was all good is the result I get. felt like a huge boulder had been lifted from my shoulders.
I have a pap smear every year, if I can do that, I can have a mammogram every two...so I say to myself.

please ladies, it takes about 10 mins if even that, a little bit of discomfort for a long time of relief is well worth it.
and if, for some reason, the result is not good, rather you know and can get the help you need than let it get worse.

God bless us all

I am only 37 years old and for the last 3 years I have had them (mamograms done) every 6 months. I have a few lumps but no changes and even done a biopsy on one and it was binin( sp?)
Here if there is no change they tell you to do it every other year instead. Very strange after going every 6 months for some time.
I do incourage early detection though it is very very important!! Go get your girls checked!!

Sara, that is scary! Have you been tested for the breast cancer gene? It might be a good idea to have your Dr check for that

So glad it was ok Carla and scraphappen!

Thanks, Wendee - I actually have an appointment with my doctor to discuss just that! It did scare me when I found out. My Mother was such a private person and she just never told us about it. My cousin knew about it all these years and just felt comfortable enough to share it now. I wasn't sure whether to feel angry with my cousin or hurt but I will definitely get tested.

Well at least you have that knowledge now. I'm glad you have an appointment scheduled to get tested.
