I feel like a failure. I did a website for someone last year and now told my church I could redo theirs. It's just a Wordpress blog with a StudioPress theme. Shouldn't be rocket science but nothing is working for me this time around. I feel like it looks so amateurish. And . . . I'm not enjoying it at all (I'd rather be writing or editing). I am good at the structure (pages, links, etc) but graphically - blah. I have kind of scrapped one design and started another idea. I am meeting with my pastor and another guy tomorrow and - they are great guys and we get along fabulously - but I am not feeling good about this at all. I feel like making my signature everywhere just a big fat "F"!! Blah, blah, blah. Thanks for listening!

How frustrating. I bet if you had time to just put it away for awhile, it would be better. Your frustration may just show how far you've come in the past year and/or you may be too hard on yourself. See what 'the guys' think. Take several deep breath. Be kind to yourself, you're not a failure.

What Aggie said - "be kind to yourself", Dianne! And I would bet too that if you put it away for awhile, it will be better when you come back to it! Sending hugs! I'm sure it will turn out just great!

What Aggie said.....It is more personal to you than regular business, and it is harder, (for me, anyhow) to work on something very personal. your perfectionism really comes out. Good luck. You are not a failure!

Awww, you're being too hard on yourself. I'll pray that you figure out something that you're happy with...and that you can feel relaxed in the process.

Yes, sleep on it. I think our brains tend to get on a track and don't want to get off. Better yet, take a LONG walk and breathe!

What everyone else has shared is all good advice so I will not add anything, other than to say I will pray for you to have a clear mind and the ability to achieve a good result.

prayers coming your way. Try not to get too discourage. I love the book "Don't Make Me Think" regarding web site design; one of their wise statements is "the most contested real estate in the country is the approximate 100 square inches on the home page for a site." It has to work for many purposes, and some feel conflicting. Take a break, listen to the inputs, and kind to yourself. I'm confident it will turn out fine.

Put is aside for a while. As everybody has said, don't be so hard on yourself. Praying that the problem will be solved for you. Have a great day.Posted Image

I'm sure your church colleagues will see things differently to how you are currently feeling and will be pleased with what you've created.

When one's been working on something for a long time the "wow" factor goes and it's easier to concentrate on the shortcomings than the positives. Walk away from it for a few hours , sleep, relax and come back fresh. Failing that, ask you pastor what, if any changes he would like to see? One thing's for sure, you are not a failure.

Saying a prayer! I know how frustrating doing websites can be. I used to do them, but got totally burned out on it, so I feel your pain. Hang in there!

well now i know why he's the pastor - and a phenomenal leader. he totally released me from trying to "just duplicate" the existing site and we "divorced" ourselves from the theme that wasn't working. thank God I know it enough to be able to download and install themes on the spot, so we were able to together make a plan to move forward. more meetings, more input (the other guy is a software guy and understands the process at least), more open to possibilities and change - that is the plan moving forward. thanks for the prayers, all. i think they were well aware of my feelings this morning and that i was ready to hand it all over. i feel better now!

So glad to see this update. Remember, God does not create junk - or failures. When things don't work out, it's generally a sign you're on the wrong path. I'm grateful your pastor was able to help you change focus. May it unfold smoothly from here on.

well, many blessings on you as you and the pastor team move forward and go with what works. I think it is wonderful that you can even do that, certainly you do have what it takes!

That is never fun having a huge block like that. It sounds like they're understanding and hopefully that will allow you to break through it! Good luck.
