Hi. :waving-hi:

I've probably asked this before somewhere...but I'm back asking again. :)

What are the top things you use your food processor for?????

I have such a lovely, hardly-used large food processor sitting on my counter.
Everytime I see it (which is every day! lol) I feel bad that I never use it.

I can't remember now why I thought I needed one.

Nuts for nut rolls at Christmas. Ham for ham salad. Chicken for chicken salad. Grating carrots for carrot salad (do i make a lot of salads or what?!) Grating potatoes for potato pancakes. Buying cheese in bulk and grating it (Romano, etc.) Hmm, what else? I go thru phases, I won't use it for a month and then I am bringing it up all the time for a few weeks. Love it!

I've had a food processor for a couple years... and finally used it for the first time to shred carrots for carrot cake. Otherwise it's been sitting in the original box in my closet.

Bread crumbs. I used to use it to knead bread (but be careful it isn't overfilled....motors burn out that way.) Hmmm, I used to use it all the time, and now it's in a cupboard and replaced by my Vitamix. I'll have to think on this.......

I use mine to make artisan bread, shred stuff and the like. It's one of my "go to" appliances.

I make guacamole a lot in mine! there's nothing like homemade guacamole. I love the color of it, it's so bright and fresh! I would love to paint a room that color or maybe a scrapbooking kit based on that color lol!

I gave mine to my sister after I bought a Magic Bullet. It's so much lighter, smaller, and easier to clean than the big blender. I use it mostly for making smoothies or blending liquid ingredients. I used it this weekend to "chop" strawberries for jam. I've had it about 2 years and haven't missed my big blender once.

Mine gets a pretty regular workout with shredding fruits & veggies--apples, carrots, zucchini, potatoes, etc. I often use shredded produce in muffins and quick breads. It's super for "hiding" vegetables in dishes to up the nutritional value, too!

I also use mine as my go-to for pie crust and shortbread. Yum!

I go through stages using mine too - otherwise it just takes up space in a cabinet. When I do use it I'm usually on a roll chopping zucchini or carrots or something to make bread - and I love to make ham salad chopping the green peppers, onions and mixing it together in the processor. Which reminds me - it must be about time to make some ham salad!

My favorite small appliance! I use it almost every day. I have a slicer attachment and I use that for slicing onions for French onion soup, which we have a bout twice a month. And I make a lot of breadcrumbs. Couldn't get along without it!

ohhh, I got one to make hummus but can't figure out how to use it. What can I use to mash my garbonzo beans so they are smooth and creamy for hummus? I think i might try food processor to make zucchini bread today. thanks for the inspiration.

lol...I almost never use ours, but DH likes it for chopping ingredients. Ours is a very tiny one though, with only one type of blade, so chopping is all we CAN do.

I used to use ours to make pesto (from basil as opposed to the millions of other kinds I've now heard of), but when we upgraded our blender, I make it in that now. My food processor is Mom's from the 1980s, still chugging away. It lives in our basement since I use it so rarely. I think I'll take Theresa up on her idea to shred carrots in it for cake - that is TIME CONSUMING to grate them one by one!

I'm getting so many good ideas here now! My Food Processor may have seen it's last days hiding away in the cabinet! I think I have a slicer attachment for mine too and I could have used it last night slicing zucchini for our dinner! Bread crumbs is one thing I do too and I do always use it when grating carrots for carrot cake or bread.

So happy you started this thread, Char!
