...to enlist in the Marines! He has always wanted to join.
He graduated HS and turned 18 in June...so now he is on his way to get the paperwork done.
Monday and Tuesday he goes to take the ASVAB and then, physical and the strength training test! He delayed his entry till after his sister's wedding on Aug 24th...they said he will have to wait till Feb for boot camp!

I am relieved a bit..I have a few more months with him!

UPDATED in POST 13 and POST 17.

Congratulations to your son, Jeanne Lee. Don't be surprised if he goes to boot camp earlier though. Our son enlisted in the Air Force in like June and they told him he wouldn't be going until after Christmas that year. He went in September. :)

Thank-you ladies, for all your kind comments and encouragement! I just found that I had posted this and never updated it!

An Update- A early slot did open up on Nov. 5th, so off to Parris Island, SC boot camp he went!
They just passed the 4 week mark. We have received 5 letters from him and have enjoyed reading about his experiences. He knew what to expect...all the yelling, etc... He says his fave times are when they have two hours class time in the afternoons and chapel on Sundays. No yelling then.

Joel's graduation date is Feb 1st and we so look forward to traveling down there too see him! We will miss him over the hoildays but plan to send him LOTS of mail.

We know that he is being watched over by God no matter what.

Glad to hear things are going well. It sounds like he is handling it. I know it will be tough over the holidays, but you'll get to see him before you know it!

What an awesome thing for your son! I remember when I enlisted right out of HS (okay that was a LONG time ago). Basic Training was some of the best times for me and the military changed my life for the better! So happy for you and your son!

Thank-you, Aggie, Carla and Brenda!

He is in phase 3 and on the downhill! Less then 4 weeks!
We are heading down on Jan 29th. They have Family Day activities
the few days before the graduation. My in-laws are driving from Ohio to meet us down there.
We have our rooms reserved!
Praying him through the most difficult 54 hours called the Crucible. The week before they graduate...look it up on youtube if you want to know more about that time.
