Well, I finally bought another freezer and it will be delivered at the end of July. I have plenty that needs to go into it, but what type of prepared food do you like to make and put extra into the freezer?

Usual things my DH likes in serving sizes are spaghetti, lasagna, vegetable soup, breakfast type sandwiches, and of course lots of ice cream!

I hope I haven't missed all of the fresh vegetables, like corn and squash, since it has been so dry.

Freezers are great! I loved having one - you can stock up when things are cheap. Hope you haven't lost out on the fresh veggies this year, too. Regular sandwiches generally freeze well, too - make them ahead & just grab one when you leave.

I like to have homemade chicken stock in the freezer for a quick homemade chicken noodle soup!

We make our own basil pesto in the summer and freeze some to put on pasta in the winter. We also freeze plenty of fresh blueberries and I feed them to the kids totally or half frozen as bite-sized "popsicles" lol.
I often crock pot twice as much meat as we need for recipes and freeze half, labeled for what recipe(s) it would be good for.

I LOVE my freezer too! All summer I make soups from the fresh veggies available to us and I try and make double batches of everything so I can always have something easy to defrost on those days when I just don't feel like cooking. And for some reason, things always taate better the second time around.

I have a neighbor who has a massive garden and he supplies me with more green peppers than I know what to do with so I chop them up, put them in portion size zip-locks and then I have fresh peppers with which to cook all winter and peppers are so expensive in the wintertime. Soup is just my favorite thing to make though so we always have several kinds of soups at the ready.

I also make double batches of cookies when I'm baking and as long as no one knows I'm doing it I manage to toss a few dozen of them in the freezer too - they freeze so well and everyone is always suprised when I bring out a "fresh" batch of home made cookies when I hear "oh, Mom, why don't you make some some cookies today"!

I make mini loaves of zucchini bread, banana bread and muffins to freeze too and they are always a welcome sight when they smell them "fresh" from the oven - they think I get up extra early to bake for them! Blueberry muffins freeze beautifuly!

I always have lots of frozen green grapes in my freezer too although they are really a great summer time snack - so cooling and better than a popsickle on those hot summer days.

I hadn't thought of freezing my homemade pesto, Cheri - what a great idea!
