Since I have PSCS 3 on 1 laptop my older hp and PSE10 on this laptop most all my digiscrap stuff is saved on my EHD drive.
I just load stuff from my ehd to whatever laptop I am using at the time.
Since I have alot of stuff I havent used I havenot purchased any stuff for months.
New Stuff is saved here first and then saved to my ehd.

That's pretty much what I do. I have one laptop with PSE10, and several EHD's. I download onto my desktop download file, unzip, and move my stash into folders, then transfer it to a DVD, and 2 EHD's. I usually keep the very newest stuff on my laptop for awhile to try.

I mostly get supplies from my main EHD as I am doing an LO.

I've put duplicates on the EHD's before so now I am trying to be more careful.

As I now have soooo much stuff, It now takes up 7 discs! I print out the 'summary' page for each collection and keep them in a folder in my crafting cupboard, I also make contact sheets of my freebies. That way, If 'I know what I want but can't remember where I've seen it' I can look in the folder and refresh my memory easily.

Ohhh, I love the idea of print out the summary sheets and putting them in a folder!
