Are you afraid of roller coaster?Last week, I went to the Amusement Park and try to experience it. I used to be very frightened, but I was forced by my friends, so I tried, however I closed my eyes all the process.
What about you?

I think roller coasters are probably my most favorite ride! However, I do have to admit that I get a little scared when I'm standing in line watching it sometimes.

I'm a little frightened - I'll go on the easy ones. I don't even like to watch the ones that tip upside down.

I used to love them when I was a kid. My Dad and I would always ride the big one at Coney Island. Now I'll go on the real easy ones, but not the ones that twist and turn upside down.

I can't say I'm afraid of roller coasters other than I'm afraid they will make me sick to my stomach. I get motion sick really easily so I avoid most carnival/amusement park rides. I also am not a fan of feeling like I'm falling which is inherent in roller coaster riding. :)

I remember going to Disneyland in the 4th grade with my Girl Scout troop. We all had to ride the same rides and I was forced to go on the Matterhorn. I kept my eyes closed and gripped the sides the whole ride. I was so scared. Then I moved to Tulsa, OK in the 9th grade and there was an amusement park with a wooden roller coaster named Zingo. I fell in love. I have loved every roller coaster since then except the Ninja at Six Flags in St. Louis.

I've never gone upside down on a roller coaster, but they never used to bother me. I like log flumes even better, though, because you were cooled off by splashes. Wooden roller coasters tend to have more shake & vibration, so even though they don't go as fast, they can be scary.

I love all coasters, & the freefall rides as well. I like the wooden ones the least simply because they are much jerkier & I nearly always end up with a sore neck, kinked back, or headache (I still ride it every time we go though, go figure!).

Love, love, love roller coasters (even Ninja ;)) I don't do spinning rides though, they make me a bit sick.

I was reading this thread to Rich and telling him what I had written and he reminded me that just 8 years ago I had happily agreed to ride the huge, treacherous, scary rollercoaster at Dollywood with Christopher. I do not know what I was thinking! I do remember that seeing it from the "getting on" point showed only a portion of the valley that rollercoaster went into - the departure point was where I realized that we had actually dipped up and down into the valleys between the mountains and I couldn't believe I had actually survived that ride! Christopher wanted so badly to ride it and it was just the three of us and Rich WAS NOT going to do it, so I just did what Mom's do - that little tiny sacrifice won't happen again! LOL LOL

When I see the sign that says, "If you have back problems.... don't ride this ride" I always know that I should NOT ride whatever it is I'm standing in line for because I have severe scoliosis. But usually, I don't ride roller coasters anyway. I don't mind the speed, but I am a chicken about the heights and just don't like being jerked around.

:D

I grew up in Santa Cruz where there is the old white wooden one. The fewer on the ride the slower it would go. I went with my cousin Janet and it was boring because there were just the two of us. Now the NEW stuff, some of that can be scary. You'll not get me on the scissors or a strata. I'm afraid of heights. And the scizzors would cause the contents of my lunch to go flying everywhere.

The answer. The old ones are ok. Anything built after 1975 ua probably going to be a problem. The old ones didn't have much to hold you in the seat. If you were very small or very thin you'd likely go shooting off onto the beach or into the river.
Find out what you love and love it as best you can.
