Gallery Credit Etiquette

Hi!

I haven't posted any layouts yet, but I have a question before I do. I have several layouts that use mainly items from the ScrapGirls Boutique. But on a few of the layouts I didn't keep a list of items used so I'm not positive where they came from. Is it okay to post a layout without giving credit for an element used...and if possibly it didn't come from the ScrapGirls Boutique?

SG is pretty gracious about layouts made with products from other sites; i think they just always ask that you don't link to other sites. not sure what software you're using but i've found it's pretty easy to keep track of the elements by using File>Info and entering the items there. even if you just reference the SG collection name. personally i have found this helpful when i refer back to a layout and want to know what I used. looking forward to seeing some of your layouts soon.

I do the same thing as Diane. The file info is a very helpful place. If you have some elements that you don't remember where they came from, I would just state that you have some elements that you don't remember where they came from. And Diane is correct in not linking to any other sites, but naming them is OK and appropriate for crediting purposes. Hope that helps!

Gosh! Everyone is so nice and helpful here! Thanks so much for the replies. Now, I'll just have to get to the business of figuring out how to post some layouts!

Thanks again!

Even if you don't recall where you purchased some items, you may be able to identify the artist who created them from the file name. That's really the important part, not necessarily the site/store.

I use the File - info after I have finished my layout.

I keep a large notebook beside my computer and for each layout - I put the name of the challenge I am taking part in and then the title for my page - then start listing as I go the name of the kit and product I use and just cross off items I end up not using on the page. It is nice to also list the font you use as it might be one something really likes and does not already have.
