The Digi Doer School stuff in today's newsletter looks very interesting to me. I've been thinking of doing a similar project. But could somebody who knows about Digi Doer help explain to me how it works? Is it basically templates and supplies like I would use for Project Life or something similar? Or is it more of a beginner, "here's how you scrapbook digitally with templates" sort of thing? When it mentions converting, does that mean scanning, or converting file types? The product descriptions say it works with templates, but I'm wondering if I already have various templates if it's necessary to buy specific ones to use with the set? The descriptions also mentions ebook. I'm not sure about ebooks, never having used them. Would this be something I could have printed out to put in an album? Or say, could I upload the pages to Shutterfly or Costco to make a bound book? Or is it in a format only to be viewed in an e-reader or on a computer? If I already digital scrapbook, would I need the "how to" instruction kit? Or could I just use the stuff with the templates I'm already using for PL? Lots of questions I know. But basically, I guess I'm just wondering what each of the components does, exactly, so I'd know which ones I need and which ones I don't. Hope that makes sense!

Thanks,
Melinda

Hey, Melinda!

Welcome to SG!

Just wanted to let you know that Jacqui is in Australia, so her wake/sleep schedule might be opposite yours (presuming you're in the Northern Hemisphere!). She and I have emailed a good bit, and I always have to remember that when I'm getting up, she's about to hit the hay!

Cindy

Hi Melinda, firstly I want to say welcome to Scrap Girls. Thanks for your questions. I like that you are wanting to know how they could fit with the project you are planning as it may help others.

The digiDoer products are about helping to overcome obstacles that can keep us from becoming a Doer of our ideas. For me that started with what to do with all my son’s creations as I wanted to be able to keep them all. I will start answering your questions by explaining more about the eBook as it is the guide to the process and will incorporate the products as I go.

The eBook is a PDF file that you can open on an e-reader, computer, or you may prefer to print a copy and follow along that way. It caters for those with little or no digital scrapbooking skills while taking you through the steps in creating an ‘organizational lifestyle’ that allows you to do larger projects, with tips and tricks that I have learnt along the way to save you time.

In the eBook you are taken through the four steps of:
Organizing - This includes both your computer files, creating a folder structure that suits your workflow and storage of supplies, and sorting the physical items that will be converted to digital files.
Converting - I help to minimize the time it could take you to convert (scan and photograph) and edit your physical items ready for creating.
Creating - If you are familiar with digital scrapbooking, can jump straight in. For those who are not familiar I have included a set of digiSkills, step by step instructions on the basic skills for creating your layouts/pages. The digiDoer products, digiGrids (templates) and collections, were designed to mix and match, to help speed up the process for a project such as creating an annual of your child’s school year.
Sharing - What to do with the layouts that you have created, digitally or physically, may include having a bound book made at one of the many companies offering this service (I would suggest you check with your manufacturer prior to starting so you are creating pages to their specifications), and printing the pages to insert into 8.5x11 or 12x12 plastic sleeves to create your own album.

Also included in the eBook is a section with tips about using your supplies, how they work together, and a digiSteps: Quick Reference Guide of the process to act as a prompt throughout your project.

If you already have a set of favorite templates and scrapbooking products you can certainly use those. It really depends on what your project is as to what products will suit.

I hope this has helped with your questions, of course I welcome anymore that you may have. Happy Scrapping! :)

I bought the system with the intention of scrapping our travels - souveniers and photos in one album.

I bought the system to work on the piles of art project my #3 son makes. He LOVES paper, scissors, glue, tape, etc. :giggle_bear:

In addition to what Jacqui said, her system consists of templates and what she calls "cards" that have been presized to match the templates. She has also color coded the templates to designate what supplies fit in which sections. As she said, any supplies can be made to work with the system, but she has definitely sped up the process for us.

Thanks Ro. Nica, I look forward to seeing your layouts of your son's creations. Children's artwork is just amazing and when they create plenty you don't want the process of preserving it to take a long time.
