This week we have had more than our share of clinquers thrown into the mix. First out family car, our Buick decided to have a multitude of things go wrong - i.e. - the engine, the water pump, had to have a new radiator and several other things done to it. Chching! $430

Next my Jeep, not wanting to be left out had bunch of issues that had to be fixed to the tune of $300 plus and one day after we got it fixed discovered that now the a/c had gone out and will need to be replaced. Another possible $2-$300 green ones!

Then one of our cats got very sick and we took her to the vet yesterday only to find out that all it was is that she was just covered in fleas and in flea dirts - vet had to put her in la la land just to work on her. That and the treatment they gave her to further prevent fleas came to $120. Vet then told us we had to treat the other cat to the tune of another $75 plus we were told we had to buy treatment packs for Lucy, the dog and Hannah, the other cat. Another $90 for those treatments.

Honestly, does it ever end? Those were monies we had set aside to finish the renovation of our new bedroom - just one more reason to put off doing the bedroom I guess - sigh.

And our yard is quite big and all of the shrubs need trimming and there just is not enough time in a day or in a week for Rich to do it all so I suggested we hire someone to do the shrubs - Rich didn't like that idea at all but think I'll wait til he's going for a couple days and just get it done! The poor man can't do everything! But he tries to!

Sigh - this too shall pass, but darned, it's hard to have all of this going on at the same time.

Oh Sara - I'm so sorry to hear of all your troubles! It just seems that sometimes this is just the way life is - good spurts and bad spurts. When we have these "bad spurts" I always tell DH well, when it rains it pours! But sooner or later it will stop raining and the sun will shine again - we may even see a rainbow!

Hope things get better for you soon! :bighug:

That's a lot to deal with all at once. Yikes. Life certainly dishes it out in big chunks sometimes, huh?
*hugs* Thinking of you!

So sorry you are having such a horrible time. It never rains but it pours. That's a great quote for our Thursday quote challenge.

That's really tough all at once, Sara! I'm holding good thoughts you got all your money challenges in for the rest of the year! I'm really glad to hear it wasn't more serious for your cat, even though it was expensive. hugs!

Oh Sara - having cars that dont work is just so annoying and SO expensive, I've just had 4 new tyres and new brake linings fitted which has cost me £400 ($600 approx). OK so the car's a lot safer now, but there's nothing to show for all that money. I really feel for you!

Hugs and positive thoughts coming your way from across the pond!

Yes, indeed....sometimes it seems like when it rains it pours. I am certainly empathetic with your plight...it's been pretty much like that around our house for a while. I take it one day at a time, and when that gets a little hard, one hour at a time...and then just try putting one foot in front of the other. Posted Image

Things do seem to come in bunches, don't they! Maybe now you'll get a whole bunch of good things at one time. Sorry you had a bad week.

One of my most used quotes is "when it rains, it pours"....but after the rain, there is a rainbow! Sorry all this is dumped on you at once. But look for that rainbow!

Hugs for you Sara. Last year was ours for pouring money into cars. Ugh! But my mother used to tell me that it was still a lot cheaper than a new car payment. She was right, of course.

Sara,
I don't "go" for wives tales, but the saying of trouble comes in 3's seems to apply here- car, car and pets. We used to have that happen in Mexico. One day the kids at the orphanage found baby coral snakes, then a huge rattler was in the barn, and the visiting mission team found black widows. lol. We all can rejoice that hey, this too will pass, and we are well enough to say it! :)Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

Ewwwwwww........Amanda! Well, guess I'd rather have car issues than those dreaded little creatures! Just thinking about it sends chills down my back!

Rich is usually an awesome mechanic but all of these issues have left him scratching his head. Everything is fixed but the a/c in my Jeep and thank goodness the weather has cooled down here just a bit because I drive it all the time. I have a feeling that the guys in the shop will be getting my Jeep the first of the week. I don't like driving our Buick - I've always been a Jeep girl and I miss it when it's gone. It's 12 years old though and I guess it's just time for problems!

I try to believe in the "rule of threes" but somehow we always manage to see the 4th! LOL :disappearing-smilie:

THAT is the truth! I don't want a new car payment for sure but my sweet little Jeep is 12 years old it worries me that it's having all of these issues! Hoping that this will be the end of them! Thanks for the hugs!

YAY! My awesome, super smart mechanic husband figured out it was just the switch for the a/c - the inside console is torn apart until he gets a new switch but at least he can fix it himself!
