Paula and Kathy, you and the area are in my prayers. I'm glad to see Isaac was downgraded - but looks like the flooding is still wreaking havoc and disrupting lives.

Everyone, I want to update you on Isaac. Our area has sustained much damage. Transmission lines for the electric company have been damaged and there are widespread power outages. Some have been without power for days. AT&T has 4-5 feet of water in some of the nearby central offices powering our landlines so 911 is also down. Our waterways on the northshore have been unable to drain into Lake Pontchartrain because of the lake level. The height of the rivers and bayous is being controlled by rainfall, the height of the lake and the direction of the winds, so flooding is a continuing problem.

We have dodged a bullet with this lingering storm and are so very thankful. We are blessed and humbled by the prayers offered by others on our behalf. We are not out of the woods yet and are praying for the safety of the thousands of first responders and utility workers who are out there restoring services. Our prayers especially go out to the many affected residents that just went through this a few years ago with Hurricane Katrina. So many relocated northward to what they thought was higher, safer ground only to have it happen again. Thanks for your continued prayers. Kathy

Good Morning! Hurricane Isaac is gone. Sun is shining. The birds, bunny rabbit, squirrels and other critters that we enjoy watching every day have come out of their hiding places in the woods. Power is being restored in record numbers and the water levels are consistently going down. Life is good!! Peezie, I hope you can get your internet back soon. Kathy

I really feel for everyone with the flooding. I grew up on the SE TX coast, and a few years in S AL, so we were used to storms. I hope everyone is ok. It has been good to hear from you during the storm.

Peezie and Bitzee... I hope now that the storm has gone that we can get together :) A Louisiana SG meet up! We "ran away" from the storm since we just moved to Slidell a few weeks ago and didn't have any emergency preparedness items in place after our looooong move from Hawaii. Feeling ill-prepared for what we knew could be days without power, etc, we felt it was best for our family to head out of town to stay with friends. We were fortunate to have a safe, comfortable place to stay with my best friend in the Dallas Ft Worth area and we rode out the storm there. We got home last night and despite much of Slidell sustaining MAJOR flood damage, our little neighborhood was mostly spared. Lots of tree debris and the like but all's well in my neighborhood.

Let me know if you'd like to get together!!!

Ang, I am so happy that your neighborhood was spared. My husband works in Slidell and we have family and friends there. I haven’t been in touch with Peezie since yesterday. She was still without internet. Yes, yes, yes, let’s get together!! Kathy

Hi everyone. Thank you all do much for the thoughts and prayers. Oh. The Power of Prayer. We are on Day 5 today without power. And it's HOT!!!!! Generator keeping us as comfortable as it could. I'm just grateful that I'm not dealing with the flooding as they are just south and east of us. We took a direct hit and let me tell you.. It was awful! When the eye came over, it was the first for me, it was not all what I expected. It was calm. You've all heard "the calm before the storm"? Well it was just that. Thought I'd see sunny skies in the eye. Nooottttt. The back side was bad too. But, we survived with no structural damage. Probably saved because it was a Cat 1. Alot of tree mess. No Internet and mediocre cell service at best. I'm missing downloading my monthly content. Lol. Kathy and Ang-- yes. We must get together since we're do darn close. After this mess is over we will plan something. Y'all take care over there. And thanks do
Much again for your continued prayers and thoughts. Love you all. --Paula

So glad to hear from all three of you LA gals! Watched the Weather Channel for days on your behalf!

Saying a prayer of thanks right now that God kept His hand of protection on you and yours.

Cindy
