Prayers For My Aunt Surgery* Update 8/10

Please keep my Aunt in your prayers today. She is going in for surgery. She has something in her lungs and after 2 biopsies and a PET scan they still can't figure out exactly what it is. They have decided to just go in and take it out. They have to cut through her ribs and she will possibly lose part, if not all, of her lung. She is a heavy smoker, and will obviously be forced to quit after this.
Thank you
Monday 8/10- What a crazy week and a half. The surgeon ended uphaving to take all of my aunt's lung, as well as 5 lymph nodes. The tumor was cancer and it was in one lymph node as well, although the other lung looks perfectly healthy. She was in surgery for 5 hours. The lengthy surgery caused quite a bit of stress to her remaining lung and she had to be put on a ventilator and into a medically induced coma. This weekend she spiked a fever and has an infection somewhere, they were worried it was pneumonia, but at this point are pretty sure it's more of an upper respiratory infection.
This weekend I went down to see my cousin. We went grocery shopping and out to lunch, then to see my aunt in ICU. Please keep praying, right now they are giving her about a 50/50 chance if she doesn't develop pneumonia.

Praying for a successful and definitive (ie nothing else needing to be done after surgery) surgery followed by successfully quitting smoking!

Adding my prayer. I'm sure the quitting will be hard for her.

Prayers for your Aunt, Mel. Quitting smoking....that's a tough one. My Mom might still be alive if she hadn't smoked. Lifelong habit and not easy to break.

Well, they did have to take one of her lungs. My cousin said my aunt was doing well after, but was still knocked out when she texted. They took out some lymph nodes and they did not show any cancer.
Thank you for your prayers.

Mmom came in to town this weekend and we went to visit my aunt. They are doing a tracheotomy today as they feel the tube has been in too long. Her 24 hour culture came back negative for pneumonia, waiting on the 48 and 72 hour.
It's so tough on everyone because she seems to be so up and down, but she is hanging in there! Thank you so much for your prayers.
