And the last really scary thing I've done is, since I "had" to go soda/pop-less while camping in the boonies this summer (didn't want to pack it in and have to drink it hot and then pack out the containers), I haven't touched a drop of anything carbonated since July 30. Even I cannot believe it. I never would have thought I could actually give it up. (Disclaimer: I do have one or two Crystal Lite powders in water during the day, so I'm not totally off Nutrasweet, although I did just find a Truvia one that I like just as well). I have sort of found that as I increase veggies and decrease pop and almost studiously don't buy sweets, I crave it all less than I used to.
My advice - baby steps:) Make little changes along the way, or go camping and force yourself to go without whatever your particular vice is.

I need to work at eating more often. I tend to only plan breakfast, lunch and dinner, without planning for snacks. This afternoon I was so hungry after my walk (I started at 4, and I should have had something to eat long before that). I just couldn't wait for supper! I had to have something fast - and the pan of brownies that DD made a couple of days ago was looking really good, even though I've managed to stay away from it this long. What saved me was my bin of food in the fridge - it's labeled "Mom's diet food - do not eat!" - that has light string cheese, baby bell light cheese, and some turkey pepperoni. I grabbed a piece of string cheese and a snack pack of mandarin oranges. Point is, it's really good to have portion-controlled good for you snacks available. I just need to work them into intentional snacks to keep my metabolism going.

Thanks, Cheri -- we are members of a CSA, too, and I do eat more veggies than meat. I will drink a diet soda once in a while, but I mostly stick to water and coffee in the morning. I think I have to 1) be more mindful about my food, 2) do better at planning meals and 3) have healthy snacks around, as Elisha just noted. Oh, and probably not buy that Rocky Road ice cream in the first place! LOL

Jennifer, are you able to ration treats? My DH is not, so things that tempt him do not enter the house. I am, so I make careful choices. Luckily, he prefers milk chocolate, and I prefer dark chocolate, so he doesn't raid my stash. If you are able to enjoy a 1/2 cup serving of ice cream (which is what a serving really is, according to the package), then you're probably safe having it in the house. But maybe for a time it's best not to tempt yourself.

I think I've got everyone, this cold is more like flu, my head is pounding. If I've missed something I'm sorry.
Carla, I have to keep track of all Ben's appointments and medication, all that requires me to be organised. I keep everything written down, and I use the same approach for the chart.

I did 30 minutes on the treadmill on Tuesday, too. I can't run with my shins right now, but I'm walking!

Valerie, I think the rule of thumb is if the symptoms are below the neck, don't exercise. So I think you're wise.
