Hi!
I would like to know how designers begin with a scrapkit.
Do you first pick the colors, and go from there,or do you have other suggestions?
I have no clue at all,so I hope you can help!
Greetings,

How To Begin? Question for designers

I'm not a designer but I'll share my thoughts. They probably all have a different process for putting together a kit. Just like I'm sure all the layout artists and members have different processes for putting together a layout...some start with the photo, some start with the collection.
It really depends on inspiration. You might see a color palette and instantly get an idea for a title and collection, so you start there. Or you might know what themed collection you want to create and then work on finding colors that work best. You could be playing around with paper blending and suddenly get inspiration to build a collection off the paper you just created.
There is no correct way to design a collection (or layout), no "checklist" to follow... it really depends on the individual.

I loved reading how Elisha got the inspiration for Elephants fly. In the blog you'll also find other designers telling "the story behind".
Here's a link to Elisha's article

I know some of the designers start with a color pallet...others come up with the collection title first. I think the inspiration and process is as varied as the designers are!

Thanks Theresa - I agree, everyone is different. You'd laugh if you knew where some of my ideas came from. Sometimes a certain color may catch my eye and it kinda snowballs, there are even kits that started because of some styles I made... I'm a little all over the place
As for the actual designing, I too always start with papers.
