Last night I auditioned for the St. Louis taiko performing group. I've been in the community-level group for a year, and was ready to give the try-outs a second try (I auditioned back in April, but wasn't ready yet). It was an intense audition - me, by myself, in front of a panel of 6 judges. Had to play 3 songs by myself, know a bunch of drum terminology, song title authors & translations, and they tested how quickly I can learn a drum pattern just by hearing it spoken.
Well....
I MADE IT!!!
I still have lots to work on, but the director & judges decided that I would do better learning & improving my skills in the performance group rather than the community-level group. And now I will have lots of chances to perform on stage with the group - so looking forward to it!!!
I haven't stopped smiling since I got the acceptance email around midnight.
