We are staying close to home this year and having dinner with my Dad and Dot. Neither of them can walk for any distance and they don't do steps of any kind so we're going to Dot's Assisted Living Facility to have Thanksgiving Dinner with them there. I'm still going to cook at home because after all, the best part of Thanksgiving Dinner is the leftovers, right? :)

What are your plans this year?

MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY,
MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP.
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS.
MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS!!

We don't have Thanksgiving here, so I'm really interested in what you will all be doing.

My son Mike, his wife Marcy and two teen girls Emily and Clara are coming to our house, from AL. Instead of regular Thanksgiving food, we are having football games with wings and other things. We always have a good time with them.

We'll be heading down to my sister inlaw's for a family dinner. There will probably be about ten of us, and she lives about 15 minutes away. I volunteered to do the turkey this year, it's the least I can do since she is hosting us! It will be the three of us, our oldest DS and his fiancee, my sister inlaw, her daughter, and my mother in law. We counted our future stepsons but they may be with their dad that day, we aren't sure yet.

We are headed to my mom's for the day; there will be 13 of us this year as my BIL is bringing his mom (his father passed away earlier this year and he doesn't want her to be alone). We all pitch in with bringing/making the food. Then we will head to my SIL's later in the day.

Sara, that is wonderful that you will be at the assisted living place with your dad and Dot. I can imagine they enjoy having you celebrate this special day with them.

We have been invited to our new son-in laws grandma's home for dinner. We look forward to getting to know our extended family better.

We will be missing our son, Joel though. Its going to be hard having him gone not one but three holidays! Hope they treat our boy good on those days! (maybe they will yell at him less?) His Marine graduation is slated for Feb 1st...Parris Island, SC! Oo-RAH!

Jeanne, when Rich was active duty my Dad loved nothing more than to come and eat Thanksgiving in the Chow Hall with us! The food was awesome!
Happy Graduation to your son!

I'll go down to my mom's for a few days and we will go to my sisters as we always do. Her brother-in-law, as many of her kids as can make it, family friends & my other sister & her family - we are always a large crew. We'll hang around & eat snacks until dinner is ready.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

In the morning, I'll be participating in the Thanksgiving Day Parade downtown. The Japanese Language School children will be pulling a dashi (Japanese drum cart) in the parade. Some of the taiko group, including myself, will be accompanying them....some of us will ride in the cart and play the large taiko, the rest will walk alongside and play smaller drums, shakers, bells, etc.
I've never been in a parade before. Should be fun!! The parade will be televised too, so I might have my dad record it for me in hopes that I have my 15 seconds of TV fame ;)

And then in the afternoon, I'll head over to my mom's house. She's in charge of Thanksgiving this year. It will mostly be my mom's side of the family, but I think my dad's mom will be coming too. Should be a small group, not many relatives coming in town this year. It will be the usual Thanksgiving fixings - turkey, stuffing, yeast rolls, green beans, asparagus casserole, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, apple pie, etc.

Ours will be a quiet one as usually. My husband has always worked during the halftime show for the Dallas Cowboys. We used to get free tickets when they were at their old stadium. After the halftime show and my DH would come say hi the girls (they were a lot younger) would ask if we could go home now! lol I work as a cashier in the Pharmacy in a big box store. The Pharmacy is closed. The front end management is making us work that day as they are starting their Black Friday sales later that day. I'm not too happy about it since we originally were off. We have no other family here so the girls would be by themselves. They are old enough to stay alone and get along fabulously. I don't have to go in until 7 pm (til 12 am) but it's the fact that they took away our day off and only told us about a week before. But I will add that I am thankful for a job as I know many do not.

We are hosting here for my in-laws and mom. Sis-in-law and family always head to TX to his family for Thanksgiving.
I need to do my shopping today and probably this evening get started on the pumpkin pies (from scratch - aka I start with a pie pumpkin). Didn't think I'd ever do such a thing, but our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) share included a pie pumpkin a couple years ago, and it truly IS worth the extra effort, at least once in a lifetime, lol. I have 3 pie pumpkins this year and am hoping to get 2 large pies worth out of them. If there's extra I'll think up something else yummy...

Mmmmmmm.....Cheri, when I have extra I put the leftover pumpkin in custard ramekins and bake like egg custard - it is soooo good - like pumpkin pie without the crust!

Yes! Yes! And I hope you'll be sharing your 15 seconds of fame here with us! Make sure Dad's camera is all charged up so we can see! You go, Tiza! Good for you! And Happy Thanksgiving!

Both our daughters and thier husbands and our one and only DGS are coming. Also my Dad (lost my Mother a year ago - she always hosted Thanksgiving until she got too sick. I have carried on most of her traditions. Mine never tastes like hers though!) Also one of my brothers who has been somewhat estranged for awhile (much too long of a story to go into.) Anyway, I am very thankful for my family and and the fact that we can be together. Thanks for asking Sara.

Mine never tastes quite like Mama's either, Karen and I swear I do exactly what she used to do! I think it's the love she put into it! :)

We always go to my grandparents' farm for the holiday weekend.

They live about 2 hours north of us on 300 acres in the north-central area of PA -- rolling hills with views of North Mountain, old and new growth forests, and an old and charming farm house. I haven't missed a Thanksgiving there since they bought the property in 1973. It is my favorite place on Earth.

We have dinner together on Thursday, spend Friday around the house with my grandparents (my kids' great granparents!) and outside with the kids and various cousins or over at my dad's neighboring farm. On Saturday, we go to my mom's house for Thanksgiving with that side of the family.

It's a busy weekend, but always packed with fun & memories! ♥

Hope you all have a safe, happy and fulfilling holiday!!

We will be going to my FIL's (who is 93) for lunch (which usually begins around 10:30am --- LOL) there will probably be around 25 of us sitting around his long....................... table.

From there we will be heading to my sisters for a Noon meal --- there will be 15 or more at her house!

Finally we will be going to our son Eric's house for a small (less than 10 people) get together! Phew, I'm full just reading what I have written LOL!
