OK.... I am back. I just love Rumi quotes.
Here's a few on life ----
"When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy."
"Appear as you are,
Be as you appear."
Rumi on Wisdom"
"Since in order to speak, one must first listen, learn to speak by listening."
"Only from the heart Can you touch the sky."
Hope that helps.. I will keep looking! Good luck - sounds like a special and very meaningful gift.

This is one of my favorites:
Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
~Dr. Seuss

"I have found if you love life, life will love you back." ~Arthur Rubenstein
Yesterday's -
"Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for." ~Joseph Addison
I tried to see if they have past ones on their website that might be helpful but the categories they showed were not applicable.

Just a few:
1. Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
2. If you think your teacher is tough, wait until you get a boss for whom to work.
3. Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employees are interesting in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
I know these aren't the kind of words of wisdom you were looking for, but........they are so true.
Now, for the serious stuff:
"God always has your back, and if you just believe, and put your hopes on His promises, there will be no day that has past that you don't feel great about."
"Always tell the truth, use kind words, keep your promises, giggle and laugh, stay happy and be positive, love one another, always be grateful, forgiveness is mandatory, give thanks for everything, try new things, say please and thank you, smile."
" Choose to love; rather than hate. Choose to laugh; rather than cry. Choose to create; rather than destroy. Choose to persevere; rather than quit. Choose to praise; rather than gossip. Choose to heal; rather than wound. Choose to give; rather than steal. Choose to act; rather than procrastinate. Choose to grow; rather than not. Choose to pray; rather than curse. Choose to live; rather than die"
And my favorites by Dr. Seuss:
"Why fit in when you were born to stand out"?
"Today is your day. Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way"
"You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can go any direction you choose"
"I meant what I said and I said what I meant, Only you can control your future"
"A person's a person, no matter how small"
"“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!”
"“You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.”
"“You'll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You'll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life's a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.”
"“Oh the places you'll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all.”
"“It's not about what it is, it's about what it can become.”
"“When you think things are bad,
when you feel sour and blue,
when you start to get mad...
you should do what I do!
Just tell yourself, Duckie,
you're really quite lucky!
Some people are much more...
oh, ever so much more...
oh, muchly much-much more
unlucky than you!”
I know your book will be just lovely and filled with good advice! Hope you'll share the finished product with us!

I like that, Gayle! It is SO true! Mind if I borrow it to add to my quote collection?
