What are your favorite holiday photos to take each year? I must take a photo of my finished tree, with the lights glowing in a darkened room. And I must take a photo of the lights on the outside of the house.

Let's share our ideas and inspire each other to get those shots we never thought of or always miss!!

I love to take a pic of my tree in a darkened room too, Carla - and my favorite pics to take are when the little ones are opening a gift and I know it's something they really, really wanted and I can capture the happy looks on their faces! (sometimes I miss though and catch the look right in-between "I wonder what this is" and "oh, yay, it's what I wanted" ) :disappearing-smilie:

Every year I take photos of my Christmas tree with just the lights on. Then I take photos of any new ornaments that I might have bought that year.

I love to go around the neighborhood and check out how people decorate their houses and balconies with lights. I found some houses last year that were beautifully decorated with lights and animated objects.

I love taking close ups on details like a piece of tinsel, a decoration in the tree or a candle flame. And of course the family photos when all are gathered.

Well, there are sooooo many. The tree, the ornaments, candles, decorations. Everyone opening gifts, the table and all the food, the pageant at church, the decorations downtown, the lights on the houses in the neighborhood....There's no end.

I end up taking the same pictures every year, and they pretty much all look the same. This year it is my goal to make sure I take photos of what's different, so that when I see the photo again, I know just when it was taken. I just don't know what that is yet!

My favorite photos to take are the kids playing in the snow in front of our home with the decorations in the background. I try (and bribe with candy) to get the three to take a nice photo of them smiling with their arms around each other. I have yet to be successful this year....

There is no way I can get my kids to pose and act like they love each other!

I always take the grand kids by the tree ... some years are better than others (getting six to sit still and smile is a challenge) but love seeing how they have grown and changed over the years.

LOL - I totally hear you! I have done a layout on the "outtakes" from one year, which are hysterical in retrospect.

I'm like everyone else - I love taking photos of the ornaments on the tree! I also love getting a shot of all the wrapped presents under the tree before the kids wake up and open them. Then I love getting a shot of the kids playing in the "sea" of torn wrapping paper!

LOL! Elisha! That's my problem too! I can't tell one year from the next except for how old everyone looks. This year I tried to take close ups of decorations with different lightings, shoot from different angles. I've never been all that happy with my Christmas pictures - although I keep trying!
