Help
We took my FIL into the emergency room on Wednesday after my husband found him on the floor of his bathroom that morning. They got him up to a room Wednesday night then moved him to ICU Thursday afternoon. The doctor didn't think he would make it through the night so we were with him all night. No significant change in his condition overnight. We have a DNR order and no DNI but they have him on a BPap oxygen mask. Home for a few to freshen up and then we'll be back to the hospital. Prayers for him are greatly appreciated.
Update 12/29/12
FIL is now on "comfort care." It may be a few hours or a few days before his heart gives up. My BIL arrived from California yesterday afternoon and our daughter will arrive this afternoon. He indicated he wanted his oxygen mask off yesterday afternoon so he could talk, and boy, did he. He started talking about 2pm and was still going when we left at 10pm. Up to that point, he'd hardly been able to get out an intelligible word. Most of the talking was silly questions he was asking us, over and over again. When we tried to steer him to talking about his life, he'd go right back to the questions. Sometimes it was funny and sometimes it was frustrating. We came home to get some sleep last night while my BIL stayed with his dad. Heading back to the hospital this morning.
Update 1/5/12
Lloyd is holding on. He is alert and conversing when he is awake but he sleeps most of the day and night. Not eating much but drinking coffee and water. We have a health aid from 7 pm to 7 am right now, until my BIL goes back to California and then it will be around the clock.

Absolutely, Pat. I've been praying for your dear FIL since you posted this in your status update. Thinking about all of you and sending extra prayers today that he is no pain and that the doctors will be able to make him all better again - and quickly! Bless his heart......

You've all been in my prayers since I saw your status update. I'm sorry to hear he's not improving thus far; I pray that he is at peace and not in pain. *hugs* to you as you keep vigil and hope and pray for the best outcome.

I'm sorry to hear it doesn't sound like he'll recover from his heart problems this time - My prayers are for comfort for him and you all, and a peaceful and painless passing, whenever that may happen.
