Some of you may remember back on Sept. 1st last year that I posted this:
So glad Mama and I decided to go check out the smoke at my neighbors - no one was home, I called 911 AND we stayed until the fire departments got there - great job by the bucket brigade that got the fire under control before the fire trucks got there! My neighbor Jen and her husband Doug have both said that they still have their home thanks to us!

Fast forward to Sat. Feb 2nd --- we have a 3 day event called "The Ride-In" to benefit a children's camp here in Maine. They have fireworks on Saturday night. A grandfather, his daughter and her 3 daughters - ages 6 ,7 and 9 were in their Rhino (which is kind of like an ATV on steroids) going across the lake to get a better view of the fireworks. Doug (the home owner from above) was at a party at a house on the lake. They were watching as all of a sudden the Rhino was nowhere to be seen - it had gone into open water. Doug grabbed a ladder and some of the others grabbed ropes and jumped on their 4 wheelers to help these strangers. By the time they arrived the Mother and 3 daughters were out of the water BUT the grandfather couldn't get out. Doug ended up laying down on the ice and grabbed onto him as he was trying to hold onto the ladder AND with help from others they were able to slide him out of the water. They estimated he was in the water approximately 3 minutes --- they loaded all the people on to the 4 wheelers and took them back to the camp. They got their water soaked clothing off AND Jen held one of the little girls wrapped in a blanket on her lap until the emergency crews arrived!

This is a pay-it-forward story where a night watching fireworks could have turned into a terrible tragedy BUT ended with a life being saved!

Thanks for sharing this with us. Such quick thinking and how wonderful that everyone was saved. Thanks to Doug, the grandfather was pulled to safety. Yes, what goes around does come around.
