As some of you know, Bryan is in the reserves & civil service for the Air Force. The threat of furlough for govt employees is now a very real, and likely, threat. Administrative furlough would mean that he would be short 16 hrs every pay period, which means we would be getting about over $600 less per month for as long as the furlough lasts (at this point they are expecting it to be at least until Sept). I try not to whine about our circumstances much, but with 4 kids, 1 of whom is special needs, we barely scrape by (and sometimes need a bit of help) as it is. We have made additional cuts in the budget, but nowhere near the amount we will be short. It's not definite yet, but if it happens I have no idea what we will do. I guess we might have to send a couple of the kids away to family to make the bills lower... we'd have already dropped internet if it wasn't for the fact that I do business online & need it. Now I have more tests to look forward to, and I am not sure how much my testing & subsequent care will cost.

But, I am doing my best to avoid stress... so it decided to come looking for me instead. I guess that those of you praying for my health issues might throw in a little word for our finances too... *sigh* :monstercry:/> :embarrassed003:/>

A little overwhelmed.

I'm so sorry, Jenna. Dh has talked about the furlough and how it will effect his office (not him directly). I hope it doesn't happen!

I think they need to lock up all of our federal politicians in a room and tell them they can't come out until they come to an agreement. Without pay, of course.

This is going to affect my son-in-law too - but he is retired AF and now works as a civilian employee for the AF - it's just awful. Adding this to my prayers for you and Bryan, Jenna. I wish I could just snap my fingers and make everything better for you, sweetie.

I remember years ago a period of unemployment with the fear that it brings. We managed to get through it. I know the uncertainty you are feeling and the stress that it can bring. Prayers for peace and a good outcome for you, both health and security wise.

I will definitely be praying for your health and finances Jenna! I totally understand this government thing as my son and daughter both work for them and one will be losing their job and the other will be taking that pay cut if this goes through. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers! Sending huge cyber hugs to you!

Thanks for the encouragement. They held a meeting at Bryan's work Mon. We won't know until the 1st, but it sounds like it's going to happen.

There is still no good news on the furlough. As of now, furloughs are scheduled to start April 26th. We are saving as much as we can, not running the air or heat (yes, the weather changes that much from morning to night sometimes here! It's nuts!). We limit shower time, the kids aren't allowed to watch tv or xbox at all during the week, and I am restricting computer time to mostly work (although I do check FB & I am here right now - a girl needs a break!). Bryan also has only one lightbulb in each fixture to save on electricity. Hoping that along with getting rid of Dish Network & one of our phones we won't have to send the kids to my parents. Looks like we will be losing $640 per month if it isn't fixed. Ugh.

I am working harder on my photography business, hoping to make up some of the difference there. Our tax return went into savings instead of fixing some problems around the house we have been needing to address. In the mean-time, keep those prayers coming! God will provide, I have faith, but I will admit that it's hard not to be a little afraid. I know y'all understand...
