I'm including a srap simple embellishment in my layout (for the first time ever) and I have no idea how to add color to it. Please advise.

Hi Monika, and welcome (don't think I'd welcomed you yet!) There are a variety of ways to color embellishments. One way is to put a colored layer above the item, and then clip it (clipping mask) to the item. That will look "flat." Then use blending modes for the layer and play, bringing back the texture and depth.

May I recommend the free ebook? It has a variety of techniques. Some are better for light colors or dark, textures, prints, etc.
