So how do items like the Boy Scout emblem work on a layout? I mean, I am not selling my layout for anyone it's just for my use so is there anything I need to do special? When I post it I know I need to cite source and whatnot - anything else special for items like that?

TIA

For my own use I do use symbols off the internet ex. Air Force or military insignia and i don't site the source because they are common and don't have a copy mark or indicate that I can't copy it.

There is a difference between military symbols (government) and organizations such as the Scouts. Using a photo of a badge would eliminate any concern.

Yes, using a photo you take of the emblem and then manipulating (extract, resize, recolor, etc.) should be fine for personal use and sharing. Would not be ok for commercial use though. For example, doing a LO of my son's Eagle court. I could take the emblem from his certificate or badge, photograph it and use it.
