I can't even get past the voice over practice session to begin to set it up. My tech is off for the weekend, so I guess it's Monday for me. Too complicated.

That's ok, Jean. I remember mine came right after Black Friday and I didn't even open the box for a week because I didn't have enough time to devote to it.
And, now I even forgot that part!

In the meantime, this book My New Mac was helpful to me when I got mine. I have Snow Leopard, but this one is for Mountain Lion I see. I found it useful to read, maybe you would too?

Good Luck and hang in - you'll be all straightened out soon!

I will get a manual-that one sounds good. I always read manuals. :) I know I also have the 3 year apple care so in time I can get help. I just want it done this instant! :)

thanks.

Try this http://www.apple.com/support/mac/ I've found them quite helpful and easy to use. No need to wait until Monday, they are available all the time.

Jean, what kind of problem are you having getting started? I have always had good luck with Mac support and the link Sandi provided you with - if I can help, pm me and I'll do my best to walk you through it if you don't get any help from Mac support but really they are very, very good with providing answers and help.

Jean, if you check your other thread I also answered there about the Apple store, if you have one nearby.
They've been great whenever I've had to use them.

And I sure understand your being anxious - I'd want to be up, started and playing too after all your waiting!

Thank you, dear friends! I know I'll be calling on you, but I emailed my sales tech in CA and he had a tech call me, he called too. They got me out of the thing I was in and helped me get started. I'm on it now, and have scrapgirls as my my homepage for now. I've loaded PSE and although I have one mac book from the library, I will be buying a beginner Mac book.

It will take some getting used to different keys or names, but it isn't as bad as I though once I got out of that instruction thing.

I think learning the names of things was the biggest obstacle. I had the store set mine up so I didn't have the hassle you are having. I'll be honest, once in a little while there is a glitch here or there. And you don't have to stick with Safari, you can use any of the other browsers, it just comes loaded with Safari. Hang in there. In a couple of months you'll laugh about today and wonder what took you so long.

Jean I just left a message on your status update. I will be around off and on for a bit if you need more help as long as this internet holds up - I'm not home and it's been a bit funky.

Jean, I don't know anything about Macs, but I hope you get it figured out soon. I envy you having a new computer to play with! Fun!

I received my two how to books for using the MacPro yesterday. Lots of good stuff in them. I need to back up everything before I do much. I didn't get any software disks.

What software discs are you referring to, Jean? I don't recall getting any with mine either unless I'm forgetting.
