Ehd Died....

8 posts in this topic

HELP! My EHD does not work anymore and all my scrapgirls stuff is on it. I can't get it to even "run" when plugged into the usb port. What can I do? I am so frustrated.

Oh no! You can remove your hard drive from the case it's in and install it in your computer as an extra drive. That's what I had to do when my EHD quit responding. I could've sent it back to the manufacturer as it was still under warranty, but they would've deleted all my stuff. It worked out for the best though, as I found I liked having more storage on my computer, AND I ended up getting a new EHD. :)

It's really not hard to do yourself, lots of tutorials on the web for it. Let me know if you need help.

Try plugging it into other USB ports. sometimes they will remember where you plugged last time. I had to reformat one, but it deletes everything if you do that.

Yup, I was also going to say try another port. The installing it into your pc sounds like a great idea. Hope you get it all back.

What a bummer Beth!! I assume you have tried all your usb ports? Do you have access to a different computer to try it's ports? My ehd just died...however, I figured it out before I lost everything. (or anything!) Smoky's recommendation sounds like the best solution. I have heard of others doing that!

Good luck! Keep us posted!

Ugh! Mine died last year and it was HORRIBLE!!! I am lucky because I am married to a computer geek, but he had to take it apart to get it running long enough to get the data off it. If changing ports doesn't work take it to a computer guy or Geek Squad. There's all sorts of tricks they can use to get your data off.

Keep us posted and good luck!!!!

I can see where being married to a geek can have it's advantages... ;)
