Check Mark Comes Up Over Text Space

When I want to type my name in the bottom right corner of a layout, and either make a text box or just click on text, the check mark and no-no circle come up right on top of it, blocking my view of what I am typing. If I click the check mark off, I have to start over. I can't see what I'm typing. I don't remember it doing that before. I can't move it over, either.

 

Is this normal or do I have something checked somewhere?

Sorry, I don't know, but whenever I have something strange like that happen, with the text tool (or whichever one I happen to be using) selected, I go to the top left (in my PSE6) and there is a down arrow there all by itself. When I click it I get two options: "reset tool" and "reset all tools". I always click "reset tool" just in case I have inadvertently changed some setting in that tool. And, many times??? I have. GRRRrrrrrrr...

Hi Jean, I've had this happen in PSE 11 when I'm signing/dating a layout, and I know how annoying it is. I'm not sure if there's a way to prevent it. Sometimes I just use a larger size font and then I'm able to see the type beyond the check mark box. Then after accepting the type by clicking the check mark, I can easily re-size the type. Another thing that works is to type someplace else on the page, then after accepting the type by clicking the check mark, I just move the signature/date to where I want it on the page. HTH
