Erasing Technique

I saw this in one of the layouts and was curious how can this be done.It looks like erasing but it's definitely not the eraser tool in PSE11. There are 2 papers on top of each other and then it looks like earasing with with a sponge, just like erasing chalk from a blackboard, leaving some behind. I'm attaching a sample for reference. Beige paper is on top and being erased, revelaing flower paper underneath it. TIA for any advice.

I agree with Dixie. It looks like a blending mask. You might try:

It also may have been done by hand using a brush. Such as:

Brush Set: Rough It Up

There are a whole bunch more if you search for "blenders."

I think it could be either the eraser or a layer mask.

You can use any brush you want when you are erasing, so that person might have chosen a spongy brush to use as an eraser. You could do the same with a layer mask and use any brush to hide and reveal the papers.

The joy of PSE is that there are usually several ways to accomplish what you want to do.

HTH.

Please post and let us see the layout you come up with!
