Join Jode (Jode2771) and Marilyn (MariJ) in the chat room on Monday, October 14 at 7 AM ET for an Art Journaling Chat and Challenge. Art Journaling basics will be discussed and a prompt (or two!) for starting a page will be provided. This is a good time to learn about how to begin and complete an Art Journal page and what it's all about! This is an early ET chat in order to accommodate members in other parts of the world. Next Month's November will again be a PM ET chat. Please post your completed layout in the Art Journaling Chat and Challenge Gallery Have fun! Layouts can be posted in the gallery throughout the month and you can do as many as you want! We can't wait to see what you create. The CHALLENGE For this month our theme is "Super ME". Since Art Journaling is personal to yourself, we'd like to challenge you to scrap about YOU. There are two prompts, you can do either, both or combine them together into one page! 1. Each one of us is a Super Hero! Think about the different traits and characteristics you possess. What do you consider your "best"? Your "worst"? Journal and scrap about whatever comes to you. You can even try scrapping your best AND worst on one layout. 2. If you could have one Superpower, what would it be? Think about a supernatural strength or power you would like to have and create a page around it. Maybe you wish you could fly, have x-ray vision or the ability to heal?? You can create your own power or borrow one from a SuperHero and your page can be as deep or as light hearted as you want... And -- SURPRISE! If you need help getting started remember to try and come up with ONE idea and work from there - think colours, textures, how it feels... and try and convey THAT. Photos are ok but we are not encouraging it as it make it too easy to slip back into normal scrapping - go with your thoughts and feelings and show us a glimpse of YOU :-). This page turned out totally different than I envisioned when I started. In fact, I went from one prompt to the other. I'm thinking that may happen often in art journaling as you start to get in touch with what you're really feeling at the moment. A change in direction can be good. This one is about my fascination with Time Travel and how I would love to have the super human ability to go back in time. I would revisit lots of fascinating times like the American Revolution, Queen Elizabeth's reign, and other moments in history. What fun I would have traveling from one time to another.
