January Hybrid Atc Swap

CRS

Recommended Posts

It's a New Year and a new round of Hybrid ATC's! AnnBK suggested the theme "From the Kitchen" and I love it! So let's go with that this round. Sign up in this thread before January 13th if you are interested in joining the swap this round. I'll pm everyone my address and a final count on the 14th. Cards should be mailed to me by February 14th. Does that sound good??

The best way to do this seems to be to buy the 9 slot baseball trading card holders. They are designed to fit into a standard 3 ring binder. You can fold the sheets in thirds and fit them into a business sized envelope. Please include return postage in one of the slots, allowing for an extra ounce in case participants are especially exuberant with their bling. If it's not needed, I will return it with your goodies. Also please include a self-addressed envelope. When you mail the envelope to me, the post office people will tell you if there's a non-machinable surcharge. A great hint is to use your own address as the return address in case it gets "returned" for any reason.

I'm determined to do this this month, but tell me more what "from the kitchen" means. Ann, what were you thinking when you suggested it?

My thoughts were of either using bits and pieces of things from the kitchen, spices for texture, paper products, etc. or a card celebrating the kitchen and all those good things that come from it. Or a combination. Let your imagination run wild! One thing we all need to remember is that this is YOUR creation, so there's no right or wrong. Just go with it!

I was told today at a Ship Shop that the PO will charge first class parcel rate for anything in an envelope that is not paper - so a greeting card with a rhinestone in it costs over $2 to mail. They said this went into effect about 4 months ago. I'm not finding it on the USPS website, but it might be good to verify.

That's interesting, Gayle! I'll have to ask the next time I'm in the post office. Or just mail a greeting card with a rhinestone to someone and see what they charge, lol. I haven't heard anything about this, but maybe they are just slow to implement it. Our post office is slow in every aspect, so I've been going to a neighboring town to mail things other than letters. Thanks for the heads up!

I just got back from my PO as I was mailing a square card with a bulky pearl brad and specifically asked the clerk about this and none of the postal clerks knew anything about this. My square card that was thicker than 1/4 inch went for under 92 cents. The only thing that the PO clerk said was that postage is going up before the end of January so get a roll of Forever Stamps soon!!

I did see that stamps were going up again. I should order a roll now! Thanks for checking, Lei. I bet the new policy is being rolled out slowly and hasn't hit this side of the country yet.

Got mine all printed and ready to "decorate"...there's lots of cutting and pasting to be done. By my count, we have 9 now, but I always make some extras. One or two to practice on and one or two for late comers.

Mine are designed and ready to print. I'll probably start printing, assembling, and blinging. Like you Ann, I can always make more if needed. :)

I am liking my cards, feeling like a six year old with all the cutting and playing. No hints there! I am NOT liking my printer which always acts up when I need it to behave. Nothing serious, just have to reprint a couple of things, after I get another black ink cartridge. This is why I start early on these swaps.

Thanks Carla! I just have to number mine and they will be ready to go... I just don't know how soon I'll be able to get to the post office...
