Turning Background To Transparent

Try this:

First make a copy of the scanned image and save it as a png file. Open the file and double click on the background layer in the layers palette to unlock it. (It should say layer 0.) Use the magic wand with Contiguous unchecked, and click once in the blue/gray area around the bracelet. Now you will see marching ants around those areas. Click the Delete key on your keyboard. Now you should see the bracelet with a checkerboard background which is actually a transparent background. Click CTRL + D to deselect the marching ants. You may need to go in with the Eraser tool to clean up some of the edges. Just save as a png file and you should be able to use it on a layout. HTH

There are many ways to extract. Unfortunately, to do it well is tedious and requires patience -- but it is possible!!!! Here are some threads that might help you:

Oh, dear -- I clicked through OK when I clicked the link in your post.

In case it doesn't work for you, either, bcaplen, maybe this one will! :)

Doh! Sorry -- it's because it's in the Design Team forums, which are only open to the Design Team. My apologies!!!!! The second two links will get you started, though! :)

LOL - I thought about that after I posted my last reply. No need to apologize. The second links are good ones with great info! :)
