jhbren
I've been assiduously watching Olympic figure skating, and I want a paper - or several - featuring the motifs along and behind the ice. Any designers who'd like to take on the challenge? The patterns are fascinating, but difficult to analyze beyond the moving skaters.
MariJ
I haven't seen any figure skating yet, but I'm going to look to see if I can see the pretty motifs you mean, Jo. But, I'm also wondering if it might be a copyrighted item? It does sound very interesting, I hope to see it if they'd ever show the skating before I fall asleep on it! jhbren
I hadn't thought about the copyright. I don't think there's any way to actually copy the whole thing; I've taken photos, but they're always in motion, so what is in the picture is bits and pieces and/or blurred. But inspiration is copyrightable, is it? NBC is broadcasting the skating live in the morning; it's been starting at 10 AM, ET; it repeats in prime time. KFiasco
When I first saw the rink I thought the designs on the boards would make great papers as well. Funny how scrappers think alike. Karen
MariJ
I DID see it last night for a few seconds Jo and I can see why you like it - it's lovely! Then..... Our power went off so no more Olympics for me! I will look again, but thanks for that tip - I didn't realize they broadcast in the morning live! ;
tiza126
I've been looking at that motif and trying to figure out how to replicate that design in PSE. Lots of overlapping diamonds with patterned papers in identical colors. I just haven't attempted it yet.
BarbaraC1977
I love the designs, too. I searched around, and found it was designed by a Russian design firm, Bosco, that is the exclusive partner for this in Sochi. Here's a link to the story behind the graphics. Click on "look of the games."

jhbren
Thank you, Barbara. I searched, but didn't find this site. I love the notion of a national quilt.
