jhbren
Hi, April I enjoyed your tutorial on adjusting opacity. I've been doing it for several years, but your suggestions for how to use adjusted layers were a reminder of techniques I often forget. One question: you mentioned a "scrubby slider", which I'd never discovered. I checked, and it's available in PSE 10. But in playing with it, I couldn't detect any appreciable difference between using that slider and the regular percentage slider. Is there any difference in the outcome? teecee
Hi Jo, I don't have PSE 10, but I do have 11 and there is no difference in the end result between using the scrubby slider and the percentage slider from the opacity drop down. Using the scrubby slider is just a little quicker than clicking on the down arrow and using the slider. The scrubby slider is also available with other tools such as to change the size of a brush, feathering, tolerance with the magic wand tool, text leading, adjusting the amount of flow with the sponge tool, and the amount of exposure with the dodge and burn tools. I'm sure there are probably some other places where the scrubby slider is available to make adjustments. It's a handy little tool and I use it quite often. MariJ
Theresa, do you know if the scrubby slider is available in older versions of PSE? I have 6 and can't seem to get it to appear and not sure if it's me or the program. Thanks! UH-oh... Forget that question, I just answered myself! I was trying to find it on the photo itself, not as a layer. As soon as I place the pic on another layer -- it worked! Gosh, that IS so much easier! Who knew??? Cool.... CRS
I like the name of it, lol!
April Showers
Thanks! I'm not sure how I missed your question earlier today when I was on here. Thanks for answering, Theresa. Three different ways of accomplishing exactly the same thing... so Adobe. There are lots of other tools with scrubby sliders- almost any that will allow you to type in numbers have them (could be all, but I really haven't tried it). jhbren
Thank you for the information, Theresa and April. I'll have to check other tools and try them - anything to simplify life. The funny thing is that I have the Missing Manual for PSE10, but there's no mention of a scrubby slider, at least not in the index.
MariJ
Thanks for asking the question, Jo! I've already used the scrubby slider 3 times since this afternoon!
