Oh no! March Madness and all the crazy weather has made the Welcoming Committee go a little mad!!!!!
This month's Scrap Girls Forum game, March Layout madness, is designed to help you get more scrapbook pages done with a series of simple steps that add up to a finished page at the end of each week, but watch out some of the tasks may be trickier :newangel: . When the month is over you'll have completed several layouts and been treated to some fun along the way.

Throughout March, Monday through Saturday, a Welcoming Committee member will post a daily layout step in the game thread; The first and last weeks will have 7 steps, the middle two weeks will have 6 steps. The tasks will be formatted in a LARGE PURPLE FONT for ease of locating them in the game thread as it grows. You will also need to post your "progress" so far each day, see below for details.

Prizes;
  • Members who complete and post all 4 layouts in the March Layout Madness Gallery will be entered in a drawing for one of two $15.00 Scrap Girls Boutique Gift Certificates.
  • Each completed layout posted in the March Layout Madness Gallery, up to 4 per member, will be entered in a drawing for one of three $5.00 Scrap Girls Boutique Gift Certificates.

You have until 11:59pm EDT on March 31st 2014 to complete the steps and post your layouts to the March Layout Madness Gallery. There are no daily time limits.
Here is how to post your "progress" in this game thread.
  • Make sure you save your layout as a PSD/layered file first.
  • Save your layout as a .JPEG at 72ppi with a size of 4 x 4 inches (288 x 288 pixels) this is smaller than you would normally save for the web.
  • Follow the first part of this tutorial by Carla How To Post Images In The Forum to post your "progress" in the game thread.

So why not join us for a month of fun and madness.

Here is your first task;

1st March

Layout #1 Task #1

Start a new layout using a template. Add some papers to your layout.
Three quick reminders;
Firstly; don't forget to show your "progress" in this thread.
Second; the tasks this month are slightly different than we've done before.
Third; there will be no task posted tomorrow, the game will continue on Monday with Carla.

Task One: Done. Template and papers chosen. Must we name them here or not?

You don't have to name what you are using but you can if you want.

You must, however, show your layout "so far" after each task.

Here is my first layout after the first task.

I am using a blended grunge template by Syndee and this month's club by Cherise.

Can someone clarify for me what counts as a template? I don't have a single page template in my supply stash, but I do have a good number of paper and embellishments templates. Would those be OK for this project?

Ann, I'm not really sure and Valerie is asleep, but the main goal of the game is for you to play! So, I'm wondering if your embellishment templates have layers? I'd say to choose your papers and maybe use an embellishment template as if it were part of a layout template on your page? Like, if you have frames, put it on the paper as if it were there on the template. I don't know if that makes any sense, but I'm sure Valerie will be around to clarify.

Does that help any?

Ann, like Marilyn says the idea is for you to play. I think a paper template would be the best place to start, you could add some black/grey squares or rectangles for where you think you'd put your photos, but I wouldn't add anything else yet. Wait for the next task.

All these tasks are open to interpretation, and we are not going to be picky.

Here is mine, template is by Brandy Murry (ScrapSimple Digital Layout Album Templates: Favorites 3) and so are the papers (A Little Love Collection). Not sure what photos to use yet!

Carla, you chose well. If we are told to flip our templates like they always do, then you are safe. :lol:

I think I had better get my sofa out again. :newangel:

I'm off to hide. :sofa:

Valerie, before I can commit (and I'd love to play), will a daily progress and image post be required from us? I'm referring to the instructions in the opening post: You will also need to post your "progress" so far each day

I'll be very busy the middle of this month and don't think I can do daily progress/image posts. Just wondering before I jump in.
