I'm trying to get a handle on how many/who we can expect. I've created a spreadsheet of those who've expressed interested and those who I believe have committed. It's on my Public folder of OneDrive here. I'll also be posting this in Facebook as some aren't following this thread. If you see something with a question mark by your name, please let me know what to fill in so all our gaps are closed.

Hi Michelle,

I checked the spreadsheet, and I'm one of those with question marks. I definitely plan to be a part of the meet-up. Because I live fairly close by, I won't need a hotel room, but am happy to share costs of the meeting room. Looking forward to spending some time with people who share my interest in scrapping and learning some new tricks... And looking forward to meeting online friends.

I've been MIA on the website. About a month ago, my 93 year old Mom suffered a heart attack, and has been in failing health since then. I've been making regular trips to northern Iowa to visit. Sadly, we lost her last week. Dad is still a concern because he has dementia, but he's more stable physically. It's been a balancing act to add this to my schedule, and free time has been at a premium, but it's getting a little better. I'm holding the meet-up weekend open.

There have been comments on this thread about a field trip. I think the zoo is a great idea, and it's located in Forest Park, which has a lot of neat architecture and landscaping which is also fun to photograph. I haven't been to the zoo for years - since my kids were young - and I'd love to go there. Admission is free, though you pay for parking.

See you all soon!

Karen

I think there needs to be a new rule that "real life" is not allowed to intervene with our meetups!! I have my fingers crossed for you Carla.

I second that motion, Cheri!!

Karen,

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. Losing a parent is so difficult. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I've updated the spreadsheet to indicate you're coming but not staying at the hotel. My storage place gives me a different url each time, so here's the latest link from today 17Sep2014. The reason I ask if someone has a car, is for airport pickup purposes. I think we'll have enough.

This weekend, I need to comb through the suggestions and consolidate them. I'll be sure to add the zoo to the list.

Thanks and take care!

I'll know today what the cost is. Dh says to go ahead anyway, but I feel guilty. It's that real life thing kicking in again....

What a sweet DH! I agree with him, but I also understand the guilt and responsibility of running a household and it's budget.

So, here is the solution...tell the girls for Christmas, YOU get to come to the meet up. Simple and your Christmas shopping is done. I'm sure they would GLADLY give up their Christmas so you can join us.

Seriously...I hate making those real life decisions.

Oh, that would go over real well in this house, lol! I actually started my Christmas shopping on Monday...found something I know Brooke would love, then yesterday I found a necklace for my niece.

So, the verdict is in....and the truck costs about half of what I expected, so I'll be there in October. Anyone need a roommate still? I had one, but real life got in the way for her....
