notsosavvy
Is there an easy to cut out shapes from paper to save for later? Maybe with the cookie cutter tool or custom shape tool? I use elements 7 and windows
jhbren
I'm not sure why you want to save shapes. You can use the custom shape tool, and clip a paper to it, and you probably can cut a shape using the cookie cutter tool - it uses the custom shapes. Either can be done on a layer separate from the background layers. Or you could create the cut out shape you want, and save it as a png file. Hope this helps - post again if you need clarification. Wendee-CreativeSparkle
There is a whole category of customer shapes you can purchase to use for that very purpose in the boutique (custom shapes). When you purchase a set of custom shapes it includes step by step instructions on how to use them, but if you need more detailed help we can find instructions to give you right here. I don't use PSE or I'd give them to you, but I believe they're different from PSE to PS so I don't want to take a chance of giving you the wrong directions. notsosavvy
When I save it as a png file, it saves the whole 12X12 white page along with it
teecee
When I save it as a png file, it saves the whole 12X12 white page along with it You may want to try this with the cookie cutter tool: Open the paper you want to cut the shape from, duplicate it and close the original. Using the cookie cutter tool, find the shape you want to cut and be sure Crop is checked in the tool options bar. After you drag out the shape to the size you want on your paper, when you let go of the mouse, the shape will be there with a transparent background and you can save it as a PNG file. Now when you open it to use it on a page, you will see that it has a transparent background. HTH
