Hi Belle, I don't know if this will help, but in PSE 11 after you apply the style, try going to Layer>Layer Style>Scale Effects. Now you can adjust the scale and possibly move the seam - I like to click on the down arrow to bring up the slider and use the slider to adjust the scale rather than putting in the percentage numbers.
