October Recipe Swap

Recommended Posts

It's cold, wet and rainy here in the Midwest. Glad I'm inside today!! Go Royals!

This month's theme is Quick Breads.

Quick bread is any bread leavened with leavening agents other than yeast. Quick breads include many cakes, brownies and cookies—as well as banana bread, beer bread, biscuits, cornbread, muffins, pancakes, scones, and soda bread. Mmm...great for a cold wet day!

  • To participate in the Recipe Swap, please email your 4"x6" high resolution (300 dpi saved a high quality - (1200 x 1800 pixel) Recipe Card to sg.sodscrap@gmail.com by 9 am ET Thursday October 30. ***(please double check, I've been receiving cards in all sizes and dpi)***
  • It is easiest for me if you use your name or user name + the Recipe name (SodScrap_YummyFood) as the file name on your recipe. (I may change it to make it easier for me to track if you don't.)
  • You are welcome to submit more than one recipe.
  • After I have compiled the recipes, you will receive a link to download the recipe cards from all our participants. You must send in a card to get the link!

Please post your recipe in the Recipe Swap Gallery and post a link back in this thread!

I'm looking for a couple recipes. I know that I have some good recipes for FAB coffee cake in this big ol' moving box somewhere! I really need to get some of my FAV recipes scrapped, printed and nicely organized with my ScrapGirls recipes. Good grief--work is getting in the way of my creative time!

Well isn't that truth. Hate when work interferes with my creativity.

Here is mine Lemon Blueberry Bread

Marilyn-I made your beer bread recipe yesterday. It was fantastic...AND super quick and easy!

oh wow - so cool Conda! What kind of beer did you use? I am wanting to buy something special like apple or pumpkin to try! :)

Marilyn-I just used plain old beer. (whatever was on hand from the beer can chicken a few weeks ago) I think pumpkin or apple would great. What about a chocolate ale? (I do not know anything about beers or ales...or whatever...) Angie has an amazing pumpkin bread recipe using Schlafly Pumpkin Ale. mmmmm

The bread had a great flavor just "plain". I made garlic bread out of some for supper last night. It was delicious too! I have pumpkin butter in the crock pot as we speak. I will let you know how that turns out...I have a few slices left. Can't wait to try them together.

I'll post my pumpkin bread receipe here in a bit. Your basically subbing the beer for some of the wet ingredients (water) You could do the same with apple bear and an apple bread.

I asked Gary (who most of you don't know actually has been in the mico beer business for 20+ years ) about Chocolate beer. He said you would have to be careful about what you choose. Most chocolate beers are actually very dry and have an almost bitter coco taste. There are a few that are a sweeter beer and taste like chocolate milk. Those would be good, the dryer ones probably not as good.

Any other questions let me know and i'll pass them along

ps. Gary said with the recipe posted it sounds like they are going for a sweet bread with the brown sugar. So a pumpkin, October fest, etc...basically a "sweet" beer would give it the best potential. But anything would work, you may not get the taste results your looking for.

Gary to the rescue! :)

I think pumpkin would give it a great flavor, although I wouldn't expect it to taste like regular pumpkin bread.

Great work ladies! I have responded to each recipe I have received so far! These look fantastic!

Oops! Guess I forgot did I Conda! So funny, I saw Angie's recipe before I read the thread now and all that about beer - so interesting. But, before that you'd inspired me to go out and buy some pumpkin beer. Who knew there were so many different kinds? Now that I see Angie's recipe I realize I DID see that one! Have to see how it goes and maybe go get more... Who knew I'd be buying beer? :D
