VictoriaLamar1
Hey Ya'll, I am trying to scrap some photos from Medieval Times(Its a castle like restaurant that has a joust, sword fight, etc) and I'm looking for some kits that of that age. I like the realistic look not the cartoon look. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your help!
Elisha
Brandy had a collection that I used for some of my Renaissance Faire photos, but it's long since retired. It left a hole in the boutique! We go to a the Renn Faire at least once a year and I have tons of photos. It might be fun to take something like this on. Do you have any special requests as to what you'd like to see included? Castles, jousting, king, queen, jester, etc.
A-M
Elisha, I think I could make use of a kit as you are suggesting to put together. I remembered I have photos of a Celtic festival where they had medieval jousting. Shields and swords would be good. chain mail ( or mesh). If you do a google search on medieval jousting there is great inspiration for you. Patterned papers with the symbols they had on their shields etc. Diamond patterns would work well. I will look forward to seeing what you design.
VictoriaLamar1
That would be Fabulous! We have been to a couple of Renaissance Fairs also but I haven't got to those photos yet! I like to do art journal pieces with castles photos I get off the internet also. Castles, swords, dragons, etc.( the WORKS!) I do like kits that are more real than cartoonish. Soft and elegant. Something like Renaissance Romance! Haha! I don't know how to describe it. Just do your thing! Oh you might find inspiration in the Edmund Blair Leighton prints of The Accolade and God Speed paintings. I have the prints hanging in my bedroom. Marie-Christine
Super suggestions from you guys, I also have some photos from Celtic Wales Castles, deep rich blues and reds with gold and mesh. Knights in armour, jousting and the bright colors they had on.

BrendaT
Hmm . . . something like this would also work well for Harry Potter themed layouts (like at Universal Studios) . . .
Smiles
I love Renaissance music and used to play in a recorder group, so I expect I'd love it too.
Becster
Gayle, DH and I were half of a Renaissance Madrigal quartet! We did the Ren Fest in Miami for many years! Elisha - jewel tones and gold would be very elegant in a Renaissance kit! Rounded jewel embellishments would be good, too. When we performed we didn't use faceted stones on our costumes because it wasn't "period". Maybe a chalice, a turkey leg, a suit of armor ... englishrose
This is such a great theme for a collection! I'm always taking photos of castles, people in medieval costume etc. Parchment and stone effect papers would be good, a gothic style alpha, medieval instruments. pewter, candlesticks, shields, rectangular banners (the sort that hang down from the ceiling), a gothic chair, fleur de lys, the green man, jesters, swags of flowers ........ tiza126
The turkey leg suggestion made me giggle. I hope that's an embellishment!

Elisha
I want you all to know that I'm working on this. In my designs I do tend to lean toward more realistic embellishments, as you have requested. However, I want to point out Angela Blanchard's Heraldic Crest Collection Biggie. I have it myself, and I completely forgot about it! Angela's work incorporates her beautiful watercolor illustrations, and this kit reflects that style. Check it out - it might work for you. A-M
Elisha, that is a good kit you have suggested. I think I might add it to my wish list and get it as well as what you design.
