notsosavvy Posted December 4, 2014 Share Posted December 4, 2014 I opened some zip files with pea zip, they were RAR files and now all my zip files are opening with pea zip. How do I get back to the zip opener that came with windows 8? I do not know what it is,the zip opener just came up when I clicked on extract here. Anyone know how to get that back? Florida granny Posted December 4, 2014 Share Posted December 4, 2014 You might have tried this already, but... Try right-clicking once on the zip folder. Under the drop down menu, choose "Open With" then, "choose default program". Choose "File explorer" (which I believe is the Windows 8 program for zip files). JenniferZ Posted December 4, 2014 Share Posted December 4, 2014 Not sure about 8, but in Win7 go to your start menu (the little Windows icon in the lower left corner) and then select "Default Programs" (it will be on the right side fly-out menu). You can select which type of files you would like certain programs to open. So find your favorite unzip program and set it as the default to open your zip files. HTH!
