Ande43
That buys things for gifts and forgets where I put them??? You remember I bought the great stands for 8x8 LO's....last year. I have ordered all the LO's for three of them for Christmas gifts......ok....I put them away REALLY well so my daughter would not see them this summer when she was home......and since she has a habit of looking for stuff of hers still stored in my closets etc I was VERY creative in where I put them......so much so, I can not find them I went on Michaels on-line Wed and found them...luckily 50% off....so rather than destroy the house with time I do not have I ordered them again... I'd blame my age but have done things like this my whole life

scrapgarden
My mouth is sealed on whether I do this or not. BUT, I did have a neighbor who bought a gift and when Christmas came could not find it. She finally did find it 5 years later when packing to move.Good thing who didn't continue to hunt. Your daughter might be without her present!
lorac
You are not alone. I do it, my sister does it and my mother always did it. Then about six months after Christmas, the gift would be found.

MariJ
For sure you are not alone Carol. And, I can't blame it on age, I've been this way since young! I've often said I worry about what will happen when I DO get "old".
AggieB
Oh, my gosh, yes! I live alone, so I don't even have to hide the presents, but they always disappear about December and then reappear in July.

bitzee
Too funny! So nice to see that I am not alone. Oftentimes I get a good deal on a gift that I know is perfect for one of the kids, but I have to hide it. Things got so bad that I started putting a big sticky note at the back of my calendar listing the item locations. Since most of the gifts are for Christmas anyway, the note behind the December page works for me. Carol, I am glad that you were able to get a good deal when you bought replacements. LauraYB
Glad to see that I'm not alone, ladies. Some hilarious stories here..we just have to laugh at ourselves. Here's a laugh....I used to have a hard time finding hiding places for gifts. I don't wrap them until I know I have everything (you know). Several years ago on Christmas morning, I noticed that one gift wasn't among the opened packages. I turned to my hubby, "I know that I had another gift for the boys!" To my surprise, my youngest exclaimed, "Oh, yeah, mom, I saw them in the back closet. Can I go get them?" My older son, "Shhh, don't tell her that!!" Good grief!! zebidee75
Oh Laura - you made me laugh! My mum did this for years. She'd hide things from us, then forget where they were. In the middle of Christmas afternoon she'd ask if we'd got gift X - when we said no, she'd disappear off and come back half an hour later with the missing present. But then of course, the contents were no longer a surprise! The silly thing is, this was worse when we got to our teenage years, which is exactly when we wouldn't have bothered to go looking!!!!! princessrunningfingers
I lose a lot of things, but I don't remember losing Christmas gifts. Of course I blame mine on age, because I'm pretty darn old. But my daughter, who's in her 50's, lost a ball of yarn she bought for me, and found it yesterday, after I had finished the item I was knitting. jhbren
I don't remember ever forgetting where I hid something; I have several plastic tubs in my laundry/craft/wrapping area of the basement, and gifts go there as they accumulate. By the time I set up this system both DDs were past the searching stage - as in not living here anymore. I don't remember what I did in earlier years. I'm pretty old, too, Joyce. BUT - just yesterday I bought a gift card for my son-in-law. I KNOW I had it in my hand when I emptied the shopping bags. I've searched every room in the house, including those bags and the waste baskets, as well as my puree and the car. It's nowhere to be found. I think I'll just buy another card. The original is bound to show up sometime (March, maybe?), and we'll use it ourselves. Growing old beats the alternative, but I really don't like the memory gaps that just spring up. I can't find what's supposed to be in those holes!

I can't find what's supposed to be in those holes! I feel your pain. The craziest thing I have lost is two "garters". I don't even know if that's what they call them. I am so short that I use them to push up sleeves that are too long for me now. I acquired these about a year ago from a jewelry party, and have misplaced them somewhere in my apartment. I have searched every inch of the place and cannot find them. It is very frustrating.
