April Showers
There used to be some kits for desktops, but I believe they were all discontinued. I would try using a 4x6 template.
lindarobin
How about creating a screen size version of a layout that you've already completed? For example 1600x1200 pixels. If you layout is square, position it on the right side and fill the left side with solid color. That makes a good area for your desktop icons. So on a 1600x1200 canvas, your layout would be 1200x1200 pixels, and the area to the left is 400x1200 pixels.
lindarobin
The Presentation Scrapbooks would work. Example: http://store.scrapgirls.com/presentation-digital-scrapbook-1-2-3-8-5x11-old-friends-p24348.php

Figment
Funny you should ask. That's something I'm working on. Lately, I've made myself a new desktop every month, with a little calendar grid on it, using my Week 52 Dates, and the Week 52 templates (8.5x11). It's been on my mind to make a template set that fits a desktop specifically. In the meantime, any 8.5x11 template will work. What I do is make a new document in photoshop the size of my desktop, open my template, highlight all the layers, drag and drop them onto my new doc. You will need to resize them to fit. There is always extra space, which, as suggested, is perfect for the icons.

Becster
Great reminder, everyone! I did that last year for a while until we got so busy with moving. Also, I got a new monitor and was too dumb to figure out the right size even after going into the settings. LOL!
