Saying Hello Again

Hi everybody,

Many of you here know me but I see a lot of new faces. I've been away for awhile but am going to try to get back to scrapping again - after the dust settles from our move. Those of you that are my friends on Facebook know what I'm talking about already.

After 41 years of marriage, my husband and I decided it was time to fulfill a lifelong dream of moving to the country. We had made some new friends, through music, in Cass County, Iowa, so decided to find an acreage in that area. We found a lovely place the middle of January, closed on it Feb. 3rd, and we are all set to move on the 20th of this month!

I'm hoping that I can soon scrap photos of our wonderful new home. It is 4.5 acres, with a 1920's house, a shed and a pole barn. The house has been updated inside and out. It's a little bit smaller than what we've been in the last 20 years so the move is entailing some downsizing. It was time.

Mike is "retiring" from his second career with Habitat for Humanity and will be planting aronia berries to grow and harvest. I hope to have a small garden, a few fruit trees, and some chickens.

We are very, very happy and excited about our move. I've missed being around Scrap Girls and hope to be spending time here again soon.

Welcome back...we never met before I am Debby.

I see you were a very active member before so I am looking forward to seeing your pages. With a big move like that you should have lots to scrap about.

Welcome back Pat! I'm looking forward to seeing your layouts of your new place and surrounding countryside. I'm into genealogy and my ancestors had very large farms in Boone and Dallas county, from 1850 forward. Not too far from your county. Lately I've been using Google maps to explore the pictures of farms and old houses in the area.

April, that's the number one question that people who know me ask - "Are you getting a horse?" We do have room, the barn could be modified to make a good stall or two, but I've decided it's just not the prudent thing to do at this time in my life. I'm hoping to make friends with other horse owners in the area.

Thank you all for the welcomes! Ngaire, I was especially excited to see you were back too.

I was just thinking about you the other day, Pat. So happy to see that you are back at SG again. You've been missed. You were one of the first friends that I made here at SG and I believe that my first Swap Crop was for you back in 2007/08. Your new home sounds wonderful. Congratulations!

Pat, welcome back and how exciting to be moving. Hope it all goes well.

Late 2013 - my husband and I moved - "an escape to the country" and to be closer to our daughter and her precious family. We are loving it and so pleased we moved.
