CRS
As I was driving home from school the other day, I was thinking about what to do for this month's swap. Everything I thought of has been done at one point or another. Then it hit me... For the February/March hybrid atc swap, the theme is your birth date! What is your birth stone? What's your sign? Were you born in the year of the cow or snake? Choose something along these lines as inspiration for your atcs! If you are interested in joining us, here are some things to know: The best way to do this seems to be to buy the 9 slot baseball trading card holders. They are designed to fit into a standard 3 ring binder. You can fold the sheets in thirds and fit them into a business sized envelope. Please include return postage in one of the slots, allowing for an extra ounce in case participants are especially exuberant with their bling. If it's not needed, I will return it with your goodies. Also please include a self-addressed envelope. When you mail the envelope to me, the post office people will tell you if there's a non-machinable surcharge. A great hint is to use your own address as the return address in case it gets "returned" for any reason. Sign up in this thread by February 23rd. On the 24th, I'll PM you all my address and how many cards you need to make. Please try to have your finished cards to me by March 21st . If I get them all early, I'll send them back out earlier. Who's with me??? Carla Lauren Di Ann Andrea-Rose Laura Monica Lei Kelly karen
countrydi
I'm in this time. If I start now, I know that I will finish in time and I'll make a few spares to be sure I'm covered when we know the accurate number needed!
AnnBK
Me, of course! We will be away for,the first two weeks of March, but I should get them all done before then. Great, challenging topic.

ladyscrapalot
Wow, off to a great start! I'm glad you like the theme. It's something way out of my comfort zone! Mine too, I had to see I could come up with something and I think I have. So count me in and I promise to get mine done in a more timely manner! ;-)
CRS
No worries, Kelly! I'm so glad to see you back this month!
CRS
So, after reading about the condition of Kelly's envelope when it arrived to her today, I wonder if using a padded envelope or even a larger one (manila 6X9 inch) would be safer? I don't think the price was any different for postage when I did the cards this last time. Just something to think about!
AnnBK
That's what I've been doing for the last few swaps, a 6 x 9 Manila envelope, both to Carla and the return. It has always arrived back to me in perfect condition, and doesn't require any more postage. Whatever it takes to get these gems back in good condition! I don't think the price was any different for postage when I did the cards this last time. Just something to think about! I haven't been able to participate lately but have kept up with the postings and have seen the issues with the mailings. My mail service around here isn't the greatest and alot of my packages come damaged :-( So if it's ok, I will use a 6 X 9 envelope and also send one for you to return mine to me and I'll add extra postage (just in case) because you always send the extra back. Or better yet, you could use any extra stamps for someone else who may not unknowingly have sent enough, because you do so much for us on your own,
AnnBK
DUH! Moment.. Got the idea...execution to follow. OH.. And as a follow up, I've had time to really study the cards from last month...really, really creative. I especially like Lauren's! It's a real jewel. CRS
Thanks for mentioning Lauren's card, Ann! She's addicted to these swaps now. Although I had to explain to her what her sign was and what that means!
Nica
My envelope was pretty damaged as well, though, it sounds like, not as bad as Kelly's was. The clerk at the post office tells me every time that I should be putting them in a padded envelope. She said that anything other than paper is likely to poke or wear through the envelope. She also warned that the prongs on the manila envelopes should only be used in inter-office mail settings. Otherwise, they poke through as well. I will say, they're all beauties! I'm really enjoying this swap.
CRS
Maybe we should all switch to padded envelopes then. (Easy for me to say when i don't have to pay the shipping, right?). January's swap had a lot of thicker cards than usual as well. I'd hate to see these beauties destroyed in the mail!
ladyscrapalot
Count me in! Everyone works so hard on these little works of art and I for one want to be sure to get them. It just amazing that I even received mine. If I could post the picture I took I would.

January's swap had a lot of thicker cards than usual as well. I'd hate to see these beauties destroyed in the mail! Count me in on the padded envelope. I'd rather pay alittle more than see these cards ruined with all the hard work put into them! Question....if we use the padded envelope, we don't send the cards in those plastic card holders do we? I haven't done this is a while so not sure how it's been done now.
AnnBK
I think you would still need to put the cards in the separators, either individual sleeves or the sheets. That's how I'll do it. Now if I can just be stricken with an inspiration, this month will be OK!
CRS
I would continue to use the sleeves so they don't all bunch up in one spot in the envelope.
ladyscrapalot
Almost done with mine. Have to hit the craft store this weekend to pick up something for the hybrid part. AnnBK
The idea hit, I got the digital designing done, all ready to print, and guess what? I'm out of white card stock. I'll just have to run down to Hobby Lobby tomorrow and get some! We are leaving on a road trip early Friday morning and it's not likely that I'll get these done and in the mail before that. If I don't, I will only have a little work to do on them when we get back on the 10th, so they will be in Carla's hands before the deadline. CRS
Don't you hate having to hold up a project because you are out of a basic supply? That always happens to me, especially in the middle of baking or cooking a big meal. Even if I planned ahead! I can't wait to see what you decided to do!
