Hi! My name is Claire. I am grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. I homecare my husband. I'm just now getting back into scrapbooking. Actually I recently restarted with traditional scrapbooking simply because I have new software (PSE 11) that I have to learn to do digital scrapbooking. However, I prefer digital. But when I searched to find out where to print out layouts, I didn't have any luck. I use to send them off to a place for printing but they apparently closed down. :( And the only thing I'm finding now are those photobooks, which I'm not really interested in doing if I can help it. I simply wanted to be able to upload my digital layout to a place that prints them out in quality papers etc. Any suggestions there? I'm also finding all my old "stomping grounds" don't seem to be there anymore. What happened????

In any event, I am happy I found a site that is active.

Thanks for letting me join!!!!

Hi Claire and welcome to ScrapGirls - I'm glad you found us. We have lots of fun things going on round here, with weekly newsletters and regular challenges and games, so do get stuck in.

Lots of people here use PSE, so feel free to ask any questions you may have - everyone is really friendly and happy to help out, and there is normally someone around who will be able to answer your query.

With regard to the printing, I don't know the specifics (I'm from the UK!), but I know lots of people here take their layouts to local supermarkets (?) to get them printed as individual pages so they can put them in their own albums. I'm sure someone who's done it will be along shortly and will be able to give you more details, but don't despair - I know it can be done and you don't have to print to photobooks.

I look forward to seeing your layout in the gallery. Have fun!

:waving-hi: Hi Claire, and welcome to Scrap Girls! As Anna mentioned, there are lots of friendly and helpful people here, so don't hesitate to ask questions. I have used Costco for printing my loose pages, and I've been very satisfied with the service and the quality of the prints. It's okay if you don't live near a Costco, you can order online. I'm sure some others will probably be along with other suggestions for you.

We'll be looking forward to seeing you around and getting to know you. :)

Hi Claire. Welcome to the friendliest place on earth. We are a bunch of wonderful gals who 'LOVE' digi scrapping. Everyone is so helpful here. I've been here since 2007 and I love this place more each day.

I use Scrapbooks to Share and they do a wonderful job of printing on high quality paper. I have them print out my 12x12's, as my large format printer is on the fritz right now and needs to be fixed. Check them out, I'm sure you will like them.

  • 1 month later...

Thanks again for such a nice welcome.

I haven't had time lately to get into digital scrapbooking, but it is in my PLANS to do so! I have the good fortune of getting a FREE 12x12 printer. I don't know the manufacture yet but will be picking it up next week. :)

Unfortunately my laptop has decided to die on me. I'm using it right now, but the fan needs replacing, so I am buying a new laptop soon, hopefully by next month. In the meantime I am allowing this laptop to cool and am not using it as much.

I do have a question though and I'll post it in another part of the forum. I know when I did digital scrapbooking before, I was told I needed to have a good hard drive (mine is 500gb) for my PSElements ...now I have PSE-11. I have noticed some new computers only have a 32GB eMMC flash memory and apparently there is no hard drive. I think there is cloud. However, my understanding was that I needed a big hard drive to operate PSE. Anyone know anything about that? I need to buy a new computer and the ones w/o a regular hard drive are much less expensive, just not sure if it is feasible to use that with PSE.

I will load a few of my digital layouts In the gallery when I get a chance. In the meantime, I am unable to do any digital layouts. I attached one I did of my mom and I when I was a kid. I did digital layout until my husband became disabled. I homecare him 24/7. He is in a wheelchair, unable to walk, and now has Alzheimer's (beginning stages). We are both 67.

What a nice layout, Claire! Congrats on the 12x12 printer - that 's a great find. I hope your get your computer working again. :(

Your 500GB hard drive should hold you for a while. As for myself, I've graduated to terabytes. As a desinger, I do need quite a bit more room. but some of our folks have found that the more space the better, as they acquire more digital supplies and have more layouts under their belts!
