Out Of The Box

Recommended Posts

I am extremely frustrated because I can't figure out how to do this. I use Photoshop CS6 and have read two different tutorials but somehow it isn't working. I can select the part I want to show in front of the box, but don't seem to be able to copy it. Also tried a different technique using masks (both are on this site - sorry I'm not sure where.). Anyway, I have been able to figure a "way around" after all this time with Photoshop, but this time I am coming up blank. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Kathy,

I'm not sure exactly what you're struggling with. Could you post a shot of what you have so far? Maybe include your layers palette?

One thing you should make sure on, you need two copies of the photo. One BELOW the box that has the parts you want OOB masked or deleted, and one ABOVE the box that has the OOB part extracted.

Keep asking questions! We'll help you through. :)

I think I know what you are trying to do (I hope) Once you have your area selected, right click inside the selection area and choose either layer via copy or layer via cut. (Personally I usually choose layer via copy) Hope that's what you are trying to do :)
