With the release of the new ScrapSimple Handbook, this week we are focusing on ScrapSimple products and their versatility. Have you downloaded your new FREE handbook yet?

You can find it HERE and it's a big help in using the products.

For the Forum Challenges this week we will be trying a different technique and easy way to use ScrapSimple products each day. Today, I am highlighting "Clipping Papers to ScrapSimple Templates".

Want to know how? Check out pages 18-20 in the ScrapSimple Handbook to see how easy it is.

You can clip papers to ScrapSimple: paper and layout templates, word art, embellishments and alphas to name a few.

So, for today I challenge you to clip away and add a paper to a ScrapSimple product. It might be fun to see how many different products and clippings you can include on your page.

Please post your completed layout in the Tuesday NL Challenge Gallery for all of us to see. I can't wait to see your creations!

Here's my -

I LOVE the new handbook!!! The gals who put it together did a fantastic job. I have a few errands to run today, but I hope to have time to try this challenge. I tend to use the paint tool more than clipping when it comes to embellishment templates!

Pretty late on this one. Stupid question - a paper template is a layered file, right? I tried several following the newsletter, but they didn't look good. Anyway, this is what I chose - Precious.

Hi Kathy,

From what I understand usually a SS Paper template is a one-layered .png but there are psd multi-layered files like background blenders or layout templates.

Paper templates usually have one layer and you use them on a background paper - blending modes or clipping usually work.

From what I think - black templates are for clipping, grayscale ones work better with blending modes...

I'm going to check with Diane (my ScrapSimple expert) to have her see if I'm correct or if she can add anything more helpful.

Hi Kathy, I'll just jump in here with a piece of VERY basic info in case you are wondering what the heck a paper template is. Scrap Girls paper templates always have "ScrapSimple Paper Template" in the name itself. There are hundreds of them in the Scrap Girls store.

One that came out this week is ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Whimsy Doodles, for example. Some paper templates are layered; some just have a design -- like these doodles -- and you add your own background under the design. You would also color the design itself by using a color fill, a gradient, or by adding a paper to the layer above the design then clipping that paper to the design using the keyboard shortcut CTRL+G (or CMND+G on a Mac). I hope this makes sense to you. Please ask again if it doesn't.
