notsosavvy
I get so frustrated with windows when I can't move a folder where I want it.Not sure I can explain clearly, but will try. In my scrapbook folders, of supplies,In one folder I want to make a new folder to put some journal cards in that are scattered around the rest of the elements, not together. I have renamed the folder many different names and cannot get it moved to the bottom where I want it.I contimues to sit at the very top. How can I rename a folder so it will move somewhere close to where I want it.I am using windows 7. Any help is appreciated.Using the sort by, does not work either
Belle
Went I want my folders in a certain order, I number them. Don't know if this is quite what you mean though.
SodScrap
Mine are in alphabetical order. Adding numbers is an effective way. Maybe there is a setting you are missing. (but I don't know what setting, sorry)
lorac
I have Windows 8.1, and as far as I know it puts the folders in alphabetical order. That is the way it's always been. As Belle says, if you add a number in front that will do what you want it to do, I think.
Becster
Make sure that in the folders view you click on the header of the column to actually sort the folders. Name = sorts alphabetically A - Z. If you click again, it sorts Z - A.
notsosavvy
Thank you all for the suggestions. No matter what number I put in, the folder does not move.Sorting them does move everything arpound, but then it is all mixed up.I'll just leave them alone. Thanks anyway. So, if it is sorted A-Z, number files should show first, then the letters for example: 1_Pictures 2_Embellishments 3_Masks Alphas Flowers Tags Word Art I know this is so frustrating....surely we can figure it out. ?????? Ande43
For certain files I want at the top , such as Masks, Styles, Templates etc I add something like a + or * or # or ^ in front of name and then those with that symbol are all together at the top
CRS
I wonder if there is some hidden property assigned to the folder that keeps putting it in the same spot. I'm not too knowledgeable in these things, but I do know gremlins are always lurking!

All folders appear at the top of the list, before any filenames, so a folder will not come after JPGs, PNGs, etc.
BarbaraC1977
It sounds like your folders are being sorted by Date modified. Right-click in the "white space" of the folder, and select Sort By. Change to Name, Ascending for default alphabetical sort, and yes, Good Scrapper is correct; folders always come before files. If you want the folder to be the last folder in alphabetical order, name it something like z_FolderName.
